Guru and Yeti Untamed make a great combo!
« on: January 15, 2015, 04:02:34 AM »
Picked up my first non Quantums in a LONG time last night and was excited to see what these could do. I had a fresh house shout so I wasn't expecting there to be much noticable difference between the 2 because of how the house shot blends most equipment.

I threw the Yeti Untamed and was already inside of where I am with my Imperial Quantum and had a really nice look. The roll this ball had (RICO drill, box surface) was really nice. Nothing herky jerky, just strong and smooth everywhere. I picked up the Guru and expected to be a few boards to the right (lefty here). Not a chance. I ended up 6 and 3 to the right of the Yeti on a house shot. I expect there to be more difference on sport patterns.

The continuation everyone has talked about with the Guru....100% accurate. I always had success with old Track stuff when Phil was there, but had not had a Phil ball since then. Mo and Phil hit a homerun with the Guru and the Untamed is not a slouch either. Good stuff, keep it rollin!

3835, did you ever have a Track Sensor II from the early reactive days (circa mid-1990s)? I believe that was one of pieces that had Phil's influence, although he says he doesn't recall the piece. I do know that ball made the late Dave D'Entremont a LOT of money during that era.

I've yet to touch a Guru. Phil says it's strong. Really strong. But I can second you on the Untamed. It took me a while to figure out what works best for me with that piece (i.e., layout and surface preparation); it definitely has a strong motion on the back end.

I did not have the Sensor II....I believe the original Sensor was either the Critical Mass (purple) in a pearl shell, same core, or the Code Red in a pearl shell. The Sensor II was the other one, so essentially, they were the pearl Critical Mass and pearl Code Red without the names.

I had the original Critical, the Code Red, Special Edition Code Red, KO Punch, Contender, Assassin, Enforcer, Silencer, TKO, Nuke, Heat, Elite (pearl and solid), all 3 Synergies...I was a Track junkie.

I see we agree on the Untamed. Great ball and good rolling piece.
