Holy Backend
« on: January 12, 2014, 10:47:48 PM »
Just drilled up the new Reax V2 Pearl and I thought the Yeti Untamed screamed in the backend.  This ball really really moves.  We got ourselves a winner.

V2 Reax Pearl is at 85 X 4 X 25
Grease Monkey is at  85x3 3/4 X 35

The Reax2 pearl is definitely one with a very strong backend. I drilled mine a couple of weeks ago drilled 60x4.75x30 and this ball just turns the corner on fiction like there's no tomorrow. Even in a good amount of oil, it still reads the midlane pretty well. I padded my blue Reax2 to 2000 and makes a good combo with the pearl for the shot at my center....Radical keeps getting better.  8)

Grease Monkey is a smoother ball to me off the dry than the Reax V2 Pearl.  It reads the heads very well when the lanes a bit drier this is my ball of choice.  It does not jump but it has the energy to drive through the pins very well.

Just a quick thought based on Elimeno's comment.

Remember the high end pearls that are good on oil are still very porous oil sucking balls. They need to be de oiled and refreshed just like their solid counterparts.

The only way the OOB reaction we all love so much disappears is due to coverstock changes (oil soak, surface wear, dirt, etc) assuming the lanes are the same and our releases are the same.

I know lots of debate and discussion can be found throughout the bowling world on this subject but I just wanted to chime in with that because I remember reading about Elimeno's issues with his Totally Defiant.

Hope this helps some.

The Totally Defiant didn't really lose overall hook, it lost its ability to make the turn with carrydown as it got older.  Mine gets regular hot water and soap soaks, and has been scuffed on the machine to1000 abralon, and even with a freshly cleaned surface, it'll be strike strike strike 2 pin, without warning.

Well as ironic as it is I was about to buy a TD myself as Im a sucker for backend. However, I am now putting that money towards a Reax 2 Pearl.

Mo's been a great blessing to me and Radical is making great stuff!!

The Hyper Cell doesn't quit.  If you can snag an Edge still, you'd be happy too

Lmnop--

Know what else doesn't quit? Storm/roto fans who can't stand the fact that other ball companies make good(great) quality products. Let's keep the forum on topic, and you can start a new forum post to talk about storm/roto stuff.

Be happy that Radical makes good bowling balls; that should push other companies to create better bowling balls, which benefits us, the bowler.

Well you may find me to be an abnormality then.  Nothing that Utah is currently producing in the Storm brand "tickles my fancy".  Had AAA hyroad, didn't like it.  My most successful ball for me was actually the Black Widow Pearl.  I own Brunswick, 900 Global, Ebonite, Roto Grip, and Track.  Before you lump me in with "Utah pushers", think again.  I wasn't discounting the Radical, it is very much on my radar.  MOTIV, Hammer, and Seismic are also on the radar, along with the brands I already own.  I was nearly stating, if a sucker for backend is shopping, don't look past the Hyper Cell.  In fact, I think a Hyper Cell and a RV2P would probably made a great solid/pearl 1-2 punch.

In fact knowing my next ball purchase is quite a ways out, I am hoping to hear how the RV2P has handles after 60-90 games.

I'd consider changing your tampon, because your current one is extra soggy.

I know man, and a true apology to LMNOP--

Was pissed watching the end of the Seahawks/9ers game, but more particularly the "interview" with Sherman, and his "I'm awesome" attitude.

Reminded me too much of the constant debate/ragging/annoying as all get out around here, so I vented on you.

Sincerely, you didn't deserve my rant-- so I'm sorry.

If you would like me to remove it, please say so and I'll do as you wish. My bad

I was amazed at the backend of the "EZ USE" Torrid Affair that I drilled up for a teammate.

My favorite ball right now is a Hy-Road Pearl, but my next ball will probably be from Radical.  (I do own an original Reax, but I save it purely for tournaments so it doesn't see much action.)
