Intel vs Beyond Rid.
« on: May 23, 2018, 07:03:45 PM »
Which would make a better freshly oiled house shot ball for a lefty?  Do they compliment each other well enough for using 1 after the other starts leaving corners?  Thanks!

Depends on what shape you want to see. Intel is that smooth, earlyish option. Beyond Ridiculous isn't quite skid-snap but it's close. Way more on the backend than the Intel. I'd probably go for the latter if it's one or the other.

If your intent is to get both and switch from one to the other after leaving corners you're starting with the Intel and moving to the Beyond Ridiculous. It would take an interesting transition and/or line for the opposite. From what I've seen they do pair well. As always it depends on the bowler though.

The Beyond is stronger overall than the Intel.  A lot of people knock the shine off the Beyond and get better results.  The polish gives it a little over/under of a fresh house shot.  In a flatter sport pattern the Intel is the better option.  You will control the end of the pattern and not have to go away from the head pin to keep it on target.
The two compliment each other really well.  They just have very different shapes.  You won't be disappointed with either or both in your bag.

Thanks for the replies.  I am looking for a first ball out of the bag for my house shots.  Both leagues this past year, my low game average was game 1.  My first ball was the Forza GT solid with around 2000 matte surface and a pin under the ring finger layout.   Left side on fresh oil tends to play sport like since there is not a worn track anywhere.  I played straight up or maybe a bit of belly...10 at the arrows out to 7 or 8 at the breakpoint.  Just left more corner pins early and looking for a controllable Radical ball and layout to use on fresh oil.   Intel sounds very controllable, but I wonder if it is strong enough....maybe my pin down (large Val angle) is too long in transition for early oil?  My other ball that scores well is stronger backend with the pin in the ring finger.  Any other suggestions appreciated.

Intel > Beyond for fresh oil.
However, something even earlier + flatter like a Xeno solid or Tremendous may also be valid options if there is sufficient oil up front.

Well, if the Forza GT wasn't great for you game one I have my doubts the Intel would be a whole lot better. They are different balls for sure, but I would think the GT would actually fall more towards what you should be looking for on the left side.

In this situation I like the Beyond Ridiculous with the polish knocked off and an aggressive finish applied. But like the above stated something even stronger might be better yet. I feel like The Fix comes into play.

I think I will look at stronger, but keep the surface around 3000 to keep from losing too much early.   Maybe Tremendous or Quick Fix?
