Katana Slash Thoughts?
« on: November 09, 2018, 08:10:43 AM »
So I'm wondering about what everybody thinks about the Slash. From what I've seen it's by far the smoothest Katana in the line (so far) but I'm not sure that's a good thing. Is it too round for how strong of a ball/coverstock it is? I think there's a fine line between being smooth and not carrying. Especially for the higher-end asymmetric balls.

Haven't seen this one around too much. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

It's the best ball they've ever made and surprisingly versatile. If you're seeing that the ball is "too smooth" there's probably not quite enough volume for it. I've seen these make a pretty pronounced semi-sharp movement when they do hook and there's enough volume for it up front.

If you use it on the right condition, its golden. Hence the reason why they have 3 in that line to choose from. Get all 3 and you have a pretty pronounced arsenal that should cover dry-medium to heavy oil.
OG Katana- Reactive Pearl, Slash- Hybrid Reactive, Dragon- Solid Reactive.

Strong comment, or just generally unimpressed with the other stuff Radical has released? Good to know somebody has seen them make a strong move off the spot though. Was hoping that the (over)smoothness I've seen isn't a universal trait.

Well, probably not for me. I've yet to find a higher-end asymmetric ball (with the stronger cover to go with it) that can even sniff being useful on the dry-medium. But that's what the weaker balls are for.

A buddy of mine has the OG and the Slash. On wood lanes the Slash makes a hell of a move. I don’t throw Radical to compare across the line but I’m impressed with it. He posted a 299 in league with it the other night.

IMO that ball is a turd....Original Katana and the Intel is what I see a lot of players using from the Radical line and they look decent. Haven't seen much at all of the Dragon around where I am either.

I haven't thrown any of them.  My brother has a Slash and it's marginal at best.  At our local scratch events I see ALOT of Intels and Original Katana's.  And we see a wide variety of patterns from 2:1 all the way up to 10:1 on occasion.  It just appears to me that the staffers aren't using them.

I've seen quite a bit of the radical stuff popping up in my area. The Slash and Dragon have both been pretty meh at best, the Original looks great in the house with a lighter volume house pattern. None of them look good at the house with the high volume house pattern.
