Radical moving to Brunswick
« on: January 03, 2013, 09:31:39 PM »
Just saw a post on BBE saying that Radical will become Radical Bowling Technologies and will be poured by Brunswick.

Anyone else hear this?

Yes, confirmed.

Brunswick R&D will work along side Phil Cardinale and Mo Pinel to make Radical Bowling Technologies a techie dream come true.

From Phil:
"Here is what you can expect moving forward; we have broken the Radical Bowling Technologies product line into three performance levels - E-Z Use, Reliable, and Top Shelf.  E-Z Use will be the lowest price point in the line.  E-Z Use balls will have symmetrical cores and versatile coverstocks and will be designed for typical league shots and lighter oil lane conditions.

The Reliable price point will consist of stronger symmetrical core designs and more aggressive reactive coverstocks to provide a bit more performance on medium to heavier oil.  The Reliable balls will target the league and tournament bowler who need a bit more performance than our E-Z use line offers.  Reliable means just that, the first ball out of the bag, readable and usable by all.

The Top Shelf line will be our most technically advanced bowling balls characterized by the use of strong asymmetrical cores, aggressive coverstocks, and comprehensive drill patterns.  The Top Shelf balls will be totally “teched-out” with some “out-of-the-box” thinking!  These balls will be ideal for heavier oiled lanes or bowlers just wanting to cover as many boards as possible.  A Techies Dream.  Top Shelf balls will be our highest price point, and they will perform as advertised and will be worth every penny."

So, does this mean that the Radical equipment and/or the new name will be possibly approved for PBA competition?

Also, Phil said there's new equipment coming out but this was prior to you confirming this Nick. So is the new releases Phil was referring to are going to be under the new company name?

The first ball slated for release is the Torrid Elite. It will fall in the EZ Use pricepoint.

These balls will not be PBA Product Registered for the time being, but that can change in the future.

Nick,
Will the resin formulation still be the same as the old stuff? I just ordered me an HD and a Torrid, and as wondering if it will still be the same covers, or Brunswick mixed covers, since, if I understand what im reading, will now be a part of Brunswick, ala DV8?

Also, did Phil have to give up the Soaker coverstock to you guys? Im not trying to sound mean or anything, because this is a great business move for Phil. The Brunswick team has much more exposure and manpower to help Radical get where it should be, and I can't help but think that Phil plus Mo makes me tingle a little, but bang it, I haven't matched up well to big B covers since pk17. When was the last time Brunswick poured Norwich?

I am sorry for the seemingly drunk post above. My phone's dictionary doesn't know bowling terms and companies. :p

Also, I apologize for all the ADHD posts. Was Radical being poured in San Antonio or Salt Lake? Their Facebook page lists Salt Lake as their location. Does that mean that Storm was pouring their covers?

ARGH! So many questions! Just wait until I'm not sitting here with my toddler, plus coffee, plus a full size keyboard!

LOL, I doubt if Nick knows enough yet to answer everyone's questions, give the guy a break. Storm has never poured Radical equipment. Phil uses a blend of covers from several resin makers, not simply one mfger. until the last pour all Radical equipment has always been poured in San Antonio by Global.

He now will be able to use his blends as well as anything Brunswick has to offer, this encompasses cores and cover technologies, this info came straight from Phil yesterday in our phone conversation.

The newest release is a three color pearl called the Torrid Elite, has tremendous shelf and eye catching appeal. Suppose to be stronger than the Torrid, I have some ordered and hope to have them next week, February will continue the new releases with a E-Z ball and a Top Shelf new release, so stay tuned.
