Radical Equipment is great; but lately I've had to stop recommending Radical because of excessive cracking. I own many high end bowling balls. While being stored in the same conditions as many other balls which did not crack my Yeti, Reax, and Yeti Untamed have all had full circumferential breaks.

None of these balls were particularly heavily used, just because I have a lot of equipment and rotate around.

I use a five finger drill, but all the other balls I own which have not cracked over the same time period have that same drill.

I don't know if it is just a resin formula issue or manufacturing imperfections or what. Does anyone know if there have been improvements or fixes to the latest generation of Radical balls which might address this issue?

I have many Brunswick and DV8 balls and have no issues with them and actually think their cover stocks hold up better than other companies. I would assume all 3 brands would use the same cover formulations? I haven't owned a Radical ball yet but am planning on getting the Ridiculous. Would be interesting to get some staffers input on this but I would issume all the covers formulations are the same with just different names.

Just because you have an issue does not necessarily mean every Radical ball has an issue.
Do you have any Brunswick balls with the same issues? They're made in the same factory with the same materials.

Every manufacturer has some balls that have issues. I believe that DV8 balls are not that high on the roster of balls that have been reported here to have a lot of cracking issues.

There are some protocols that should be followed b every driller to insure the drilling and handling process does not produce cracking issues. Do you know if your driller follows those protocols?

Have you taken any back to your pro shop and ask him, we have a one year warranty from the day its drilled and provided you have not voided any of the rules in the warranty there should be no reason not to get them replaced. Send me some pictures of each ball and showing the drilled holes and the pin.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no rhyme or reason to why certain balls crack.

I own about 40 balls across every major manufacturer. All balls are stored in a temperate environment, and I try to occasionally throw all of them. When idle, I turn them in different sitting positions every few weeks.

The vast majority of my cracks are in Columbia equipment. I've had 3 Disorders and 2 Eruption Pros crack over the last year. The third Disorder cracked just the other night.

But I know several Columbia fan boys who have had absolutely no issues throwing the same models. I've never had a problem with my Storm equipment, but I know others who have suffered cracks across multiple balls.

To this thread, my two Radical balls (Yeti Uncaged and Guru) have had no issues. I think the OP just hit some bad luck, assuming the balls were drilled properly. I personally wouldn't avoid Radical due to a perception of cracking problems.

I'd agree with Steven. Being on staff the last two years with Radical, I've drilled "tons" of Brunswick, DV8, and Radical stuff. Not once did I have one crack. In my pro shop I've had one Brunswick ball crack and my distributor replaced it no questions asked.

One of my customers recently showed me a Roto Grip ball that was cracking all around the thumb that he bought somewhere else. In this case I suspect the driller didn't put adequate bevel at the top of the thumb before inserting the thumb slug.

Like Steven and Charlest suggested the drilling of the bowling ball has a big part to do with it. Storage of the equipment is another factor. But all in all there isn't (in my mind) one company better then the other in regards to cracking.

I appreciate Phil's offer to review the balls. They are all planted as part of a new barrier for my wife's garden, probably not going to dig them up. (In fact, that gives me a thought, maybe my wife hit those three with a hammer because she likes the colors?)

I believe all drills did follow the guidelines; they all had a higher pin so the pin wasn't in the fingers.

I'm going to presume I just had a run of bad luck. I'll be ordering the GSupreme and if I get more cracking I'll send images to Phil or through pro shop.

WOW! If I had the one of the head guys at Radical offering to review pictures of the balls and perhaps replace them, I would be digging them up NOW.

I love my Radical stuff, but I have had the same question since I've had some recent issues. My very first Reax (Black) cracked and Radical was quick to replace it.
I had bought a second Reax when they went on closeout because I loved the first one so much. Unfortunately, it cracked about 3 weeks ago. Now my Guru Mighty just cracked last week. Luckily my original Guru is still going strong.

Not sure how the process works, but my pro shop operator is working with his distributor on getting me a replacement. Doubt they can do anything about my second Reax though, we'll see.

New guy.....great work on all that you do but I want to clarify your warranty. I'm waiting to drill a gusto and guru mighty until Monday before league. The bottom of the box says 2 years and the paper insert says one year. Which is correct? I'd assume one year but wanted to make sure if the boxes were a typo you were aware. Keep up the great work!!!

Thank you for clarifying. Just wasn't sure whether to use the insert or the box. By the way the guru mighty is very mighty. I've never been able to swing the ball and had to do so last night after drilling it up. Ball is very strong and goes through the pins great.
