Reax Gusto a dud and Guru mighty not finishing

Has anybody else had these issues? These pieces are just not all they were made up to be.

The Mighty is the longest of the Guru series.  The Gusto is longer, has a cleaner surface and a lower differential.  I would suggest you try more surface on both balls if you have not already.  You may want to start with 1000 Siaair on the Mighty and 2000 on the Gusto.  Don't be afraid to use duller finishes from there if necessary.  Too smooth of a surface is the most common ball reaction error amongst bowlers in general.

I will side with Chris about surface adjustments, particularly with Radical equipment. Also, try what he suggested -- 1000 on the Guru Mighty and 2000 on the Gusto.

My Gusto is anything but a dud.  At OOB finish, drilled 45x3&3/4x30 I use it on medium THS when the lanes breakdown and it performs with a strong almost skid/flip reaction that delivers strike after strike.
At OOB finish the Gusto does not like fresh oil.  If you want to use it on the fresh, then follow the advice already given for surface adjustment. Experiment and I'm sure you will find a combination of ball surface, lane condition and perhaps even a change in layout that will wake this monster up. This is a very good ball, don't give up on it.

Thanks for all of the input. I have yet to touch up the Reax but I had a pso who is on Brunswick staff help me with the guru. He hit it with a neat E pad (1500) and the ball came alive. Hadn't had a 200 game yet but was happy with 245 221 237 213 for 916. After 2 sub 800 weeks it's a step in the right direction.

Had my first league 300 last night with my mighty. Feels good to have the monkey off my back.

I have to apologize to Radical for my review on the Gusto it was my fault I had the wrong span that caused my release not to be the same each time also I needed an heavier ball than what I been using I was over lofting instead of rolling the ball.

My guru mighty has also labored down lane. I just have not had the opportunity to adjust the surface to a lower grit yet.

In response to my last post, I have recently taken the surface down to 1000 on my Guru Mighty and wow, what a difference that made!!!!!!!!!! It now has a heavier roll and a blistering reaction down the lane. I used this one last night for all 3 games and rolled 246-290-247 for an 783 series. The first time I used it after the surfacing i shot a 713. This ball is now alive!!!!!!!!!!

I will have to have my dad try his Mighty at 1000.  I threw it once and it did seem to labor on the backend.  I added a weight hole and it helped a little. We made the hole a bit bigger and it seemed better. Maybe at 1000 will be the key. Right now we are at polished and then light 4000 by hand to take a bit of the shine off.

I will say that from what I have seen, the mighty is a ten pin leaver.  I have seen my dad leave more ten pins with the Mighty than any other ball.  All angles, light or heavy.

Maybe the 1000 will be the key.

I had the same experience with my Guru Mighty but not with the Guru Original. I also noticed that when I ovaled the thumb on the Mighty I had to go really, really slow or I would get a ridge right under the coverstock. I did not have that problem with the original. I think the Mighty coverstock must be hard or brittle thus requiring the lower grit.
