REAX= HOOK MONSTER!!
« on: March 18, 2013, 01:20:00 PM »
Im currently in the process of testing the new Radical and Brunswick balls for my website.  I must say that the REAX is unlike any other ball I've ever thrown.  This ball hooks.  I mean really hooks! I'll have the full review up in a few days and the videos should be up in a week or so.

Glad it isn't just me. I typically do not drill s lot of the bigger hooking bowling balls when I got to try the Reax. My first thought this thing hooks a lot. Like a whole lot. I need a lot more oil for this monster before it starts attacking people.

Well I bought a REAX from Tekneek.  A deal that was good enough to go for!

The Yeti looks great as well. I just posted one (undrilled) in the for sale section. The Reax is the ball for me.

Mine will be in sometime at the end of the week. Im debating the Yeti or the Meanstreak Brawler. Scared of having the same layout on 2 different ball and getting close to the same reaction. Might do a "pin down" on the Brawler and 4" pin to PAP on the Yeti.

Yeti is very impressive, I doubt I'll drill the Reax, too much hook from what I'm seeing. Don't like taking a high end piece and having to de-tune it with layout or surface. I think the Yeti compliments my Aura very well.

Getting my REAX this week also. Thanks to Steve B. (Tekneek), punched out a Yeti over the weekend and will be using tonight in league. From the few practice games I bowled, it looks pretty versatile. I plan on bringing the Reax down to the nationals. The cores on the these balls are interesting !

How does this compare to the Paranormal?

Reax vs Paranormal.  They both read the midlanes very well.  The biggest difference I saw was Reax hooks more downlane.  Its not a snap downlane just a strong strong arc.  The Paranormal is control all the way down the lane.  Very predictable.  I would say if one was to have both ball, on heavy oil, Paranormal is the ball for fresh and straighter angles.  The Reax is very heavy rolling but will open up the lane a little more on fresh.

I would definitely agree Jason.  Excellent assessment of both.  I can open up my angles more with the Reax.

I got to test the REAX and it is a very strong ball. I got a shorter pin so I went with a negative drilling (CG in towards the palm) and pin under. I also have lower revs and play in drier conditions. Despite the drilling, I was still able to get motion from it on very heavy patterns in the middle. but I did notice it tended to burn up on me a bit (probably my lower speed).

So I put 1000 abralon and polish on her....MAN did this ball come alive....and at the same time became incredibly versatile. In my video for it, I play on 3 conditions (scorpion, and then med THS and broken down THS.....I throw very similar lines on all three....that simple adjustment made this ball a seriously versatile ball that I really like to have around....it doesn't over react when it hits dry, and if you throw it over it seems to react early enough to come back but all but the worst throws.....

Very impressive....if you have the chance you should try it. and for those who get it and find that it is just way too much ball for where you roll.....don't be afraid to adjust that surface before you give up and sell her......you will be glad you took the time to mess with it......I sure am!

My complete review is in the post....it is kind of wordy....but I needed to share some of those thoughts and observations.

For me the Reax was the stronger ball. It starts reading the lane much sooner then the Paranormal with more arc on the back ends. The Paranormal was much cleaner through the heads with a stronger back end reaction and continuation through the pins.

The Reax covered more boards total, the Paranormal much more angular down lane. Both very very nice bowling balls. Both drilled the same with the pin to pap being about a 1/2" difference.
