Room For Guru Limited?
« on: February 15, 2017, 04:11:04 PM »
Alright, let me start off by saying I think the answer to this question is no. But I'm still interested in hearing the thoughts of others.

I have a hard time ignoring a good deal and I can get one for a Guru Limited right now. The thing is I don't think I really need one. The relevant balls to compare to are the Absolute Nirvana, Grudge Hybrid, Mastermind Einstein, and Diva XOXO. There's also the Shout, Unhinged, and Arson Hybrid but I'm not worried about those too much if adding anything new.

Adding the Guru Limited to the four I noted above would give me four symmetrical, which is a lot, but I also tend to have a lot of success with them. Especially those with weaker/cleaner coverstocks. Which is why the (cheap) Guru Limited has my eye.

For what it's worth I don't really carry the Absolute Nirvana with me much since it's too much ball for even the house shots that tend to be on the heavier side in my area. My Grudge Hybrid (1500) rolls really heavily off the spot and is a great ball while the Mastermind Einstein (2500) is pretty clean and quite angular. The Diva XOXO is REALLY clean but not sideways off the spot which is nice.

Sorry for all the text above, but this one is nagging at me. Of course I could just buy the Guru Limited and not get in drilled to put with my Jackal LE and Rave for future use but any opinions would be much appreciated. Even if it's only about the Guru Limited itself. Not too familiar with it and it didn't sell well in my area (hence the good deal).

Based solely from what I can derive from online info, I would get it if I were you. At a glance I would think it would fight with the Diva XOXO for a spot but, it's a Guru ball nonetheless so maybe not. I doubt the Einstein is as angular as the limited either. The 3 balls will probably only be a couple boards different but with different shapes. I see the Grude Hybrid being a lot smoother and you already mentioned the current situation on the Nirvana.

I have the Guru Limited, and it's one of my favorite. It's a strong asymmetric pearl that's usable across a wide range of medium to lighter side heavy conditions. I don't have the other balls you listed to compare against, but even if you put it in storage for a while, it's a good buy.

It's one of the few balls I own where I'm seriously considering buying a second.

That was the Code Black for me. There might be something to these strong Asym Pearls.

A good deal is a good deal, most of the time it's too hard to pass up.

I'd say get the Limited. Like Bill said, it'll be closer to the Einstein but most likely much more angular

The Guru Limited is a bit more ball overall than the Code Black.

GL is the first ball out of my bag on medium length PBA/Sport patterns. And it's my second THS ball after my Solid Rebel. I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up a second one before they go out of production.
