On most house shots, I've found using 500/royal compound/4000 to work well since the box cover (500/1500) is too strong otherwise. But that all changes when bowling on a tournament shot. The intent was using my Guru on heavier oil volumes or long patterns.

So far, I've not quite found the right combination for my game. I previously had 500/royal compound/2000. This combination worked well on my Masterminds, for example, when bowling on the PBA Chameleon pattern. I'm thinking about trying 500/2000.

Any suggestions?

It never made sense to me why people would put polish of some sort, then sand it off with grit'd pad.....polishes are $$$$.

When it comes to matching up on sport, it's never an exact science when working with the cover. For example, for the shark I'll have 500 or 800 first grite with either 1k or 1500. But after practice/warm ups I tweak it with a higher grit or lower. And/or tweak the direction of the sanding technique - along the track or against the track..

In some houses it's 1500 or 2000, just depends on what I see during warm ups.
