Torrid Affair....mid priced ball of the year?
« on: August 21, 2013, 11:02:27 AM »
I am truly amazed as to how many players with totally different styles have selected the Torrid Affair as the best reaction at the trade show demo days. We have worked extremely hard to find the perfect resin formula to wrap around this great core. It is rare that you get every style player selecting the same ball across the country, but that is what we have seen. What's more amazing is that this is a mid priced ball, apparently we have put way too much performance in a ball at this price point. It has all the attributes of ball of the year. Great performance for many styles, on many conditions, great shelf appeal and as a bonus, great value since it is a mid priced ball. I really think we have a shot at the title.
Radical is where it's at.

Phil,

Well I'll go right to the source!  Since you are out here!

My pro shop guy (on another staff) told me the same thing.  If he could use one ball on a house shot this ball would be it!

Our house is lower volume(I have been using only pin up pearls).  Playing close to the friction.  With some side to side wet dry  I also have an older modest diff core solid the Hot Wire from storm(.036 diff) with smoother than today's solids Accutread to handle that side to side wet/dry.

I have noted Robbie Browder tearing it up with the same cored Torrid Elite but not so much with the Torrid Affair!  I was going to ask him about his house and why the record scores with the Torrid Elite and the so so results with the Affair.

But well now I have the source!

Point me straight New Guy!  My house pro says Torrid Affair but we haven't worked together for him to see my side roll and revs heavy release yet.  By the way, Mo has pointed me more than straight once or twice!  Thanks MO!

Torrid affair has a great new cover that can be tweaked as needed. The Torrid elite was 1500 and ruff buff the Torrid affair is polished. That can all the difference why one balls is whacking them and the other is not. I would say go with the Affair and paly with the surface if needed.

I will say that I may not have killed them yet with the Affair but it has more than done its job. I used it solely for the 3 weeks my PBA Experience league was on the Viper and had a incredible look, avg 207 for the 3 weeks, and my team went 12-0 those 3 weeks. Like I've been saying in other forums and other outlets give Radical a chance you will not be disappointed.

Could not agree with you more Phil.  Been throwing Radical for a while now and I've never felt more confident in a ball than this one.  I'm getting a lot of people into this ball.

New guy, and Robbie Browder!

Thanks for your responses!  Again I did not realize scores posted by Robbie Browder with the Affair were on a PBA experience league.

To re emphasize, my local pro on another great staff said at the trade show demo he struck for "days" with the Affair.

I appreciate your feedback.

I just placed an order for one yesterday. After talking to fellow board member, Jason Kovack (and watching his video), and then hearing how my pro shop guy drilled one up and loves it, it seems like a no-brainer. I think it will be a good match up for me throwing two handed on a house shot for leagues this year. And when I need to go back to my down and in one handed game, I think it will be good for that as well. Might order an Elite as well if the Affair works out as planned.

I also ordered an Affair for my 13 year old son. He has a Columbia Freeze Solid right now and wanted an Endless Nightmare, but he just started bowling more seriously so I don't think he's ready for that jump just yet.

The Affair is a great ball when it comes to "bang for the buck"!
JVS - the Elite will give you more angle on the backend and makes for a good 1-2 punch with the Affair. I drilled up 2 Elite's (Pin up & pin down) to give me options around the Affair.
Radical is going to make some noise this year.

We just had a demo this weekend and everyone raved about the Torrid Affair...so much we probably have to order a couple more cases.  It was smooth off the spot and for me kept the pins low on the deck and carries really well.  This will be a house shot killer this season.  I told everyone if you had an Ultimate Inferno back in the day...you will want this ball.

EH4E,
The Elite is similar to the Absolute Inferno.
I've seen that with all of them, pins stay low and just pushes everything back.

I could not be more impressed with the two Torrid Affairs that I have.  It also allows for a lot of drilling flexibility as well.  I cannot wait to get more on display during league and tournaments!

First night back after 2 1/2 week break between summer leagues and fall leagues. Used the Torrid Affair:
248 230 263 = 741
Had a split each game and those were the only opens on the night.
Look for big things from the Affair from across the country nothing but upside for this ball.

Started our Monday League last night (along with the Texans)
246 214 256 = 716
Torrid Affair

2 opens (7-9, & a brain dead 10 pin miss) both in 2nd game.

I bought one and then bowled against the owner of the pro shop in our open championship league and it was an amazment for both of us. The ball hooked when i needed it and it hit like a mac truck. I have used it on wood on synthetic lanes on Kegel, PBA and house patterns and I always can find a place for this ball. In the shop I work at my friend who is tremendous bowler got him into radical balls and he has bowled 4 times with this ball and low set is 728 hasnt had a game under 200 and every time he has used this ball has had a 260+ game. Ball is amazing. Radical is the real deal.

This is a great Benchmark Ball and for the price is an absolute steal. If your in the market for a new ball this season look into the Torrid Affair you will not be disappointed.
