Fix Sym and Asym review
« on: December 11, 2016, 07:30:25 PM »
When Mo Pinel did his online seminar I was very excited about the release of it for many reasons. From a pro shop point of view because with the wide range of layouts it allow us to fill spots in bags for every kind of bowler for any reaction they were looking for. Me as a bowler to have a versatile ball that could plug some spots in my bag to keep me in the game. After talking with Mo and my coach I went with two layouts. Drilling D Asym and drilling E Sym.

Drilling E Symmetrical layout:

Moderate Hook for slower ball speed players for medium conditions.

This layout kind of scared me a bit. My coach told me that I had enough equipment that changed direction aggressively. I needed something more smoother for wet/dry and allow you to get a good read of the lanes. I used this ball on a fresh THS and a broken down one. Rolled around 12 games before I written down notes about the performance. The cover is very strong but the ball motion is fluid and continuous. When it read friction it didn't overreact. It's would rev up make a turn then set. Once it went end over end in its late stages it was extremely continuous. It was a joy to use and I was able to control the pocket well. Very smooth but didn't lack hit at all. Once the lanes broke down I made my basic 2-1 moves and had no issues. In league I was able to use my Sym all three games with no problem. First ball out of bag no question. Now when I was on broken down had some issues. It made sense more so because of the cover and what the layout was intended to do. I saw I needed a ball that could get down lanes and conserve some energy to go thru the pins.

Asym. D MOtion Hole layout:

Get down lane and make a hard turn!

When I used this ball I tested it the same way. On the fresh I was able to get closer to the friction and allow the ball to flip to the pocket. The ball wasn't too grabby at all. As the shot broke down I was making 2-1 moves and this ball kept coming back. Both are OOB 500-1500. So this is why for me the ball set up so well. On broken down I was very shocked how well it rolled. I was playing angles that heavy handed players play normally. Mo Pinel again was dead on and gave me a great 1-2 combo that mesh extremely well with the other balls in my aresenal. In league at warm ups this ball turned heads off the break. A 120 average bowler brought one and he instantly saw improvement with his pin carry. As a staffer this is what the job is about. Getting ball ball in players hands and see results instantly. That bowler shot a 260 and a 600 set. This is the highest game he ever shot! Since using The Fix I have seen them move out of the shop at a fast rate. Most get two or three and looking to get more. The MOtion hole layout get the ball down lane and make a sharp turn. If your rev challenged or if you want a ball to get down lane and snap out corners this is the layout for you. Also one that wake up balls that seem to roll kind of flat. In our shop we always drill a MOtion hole layout without the weight hole. Let the bowler use it and we add the weight hole for desire ball MOtion. You get a great machincal advantage with this layout. Then adding it to this ball is a killer. The cover stock strength with this layout is a great combo and allow you to get the ball motion you need down lane to keep carry when transition occurs.

Thanks Mo and Phil for your hard work and making life as a staffer a dream job. Nothing is better than having equipment that get the job done. All you have to do is put the ball where it need to be and watch the results.

If you want a versatile ball and have some gaps in your bag that other equipment can't fill please get a Fix. This ball is a 20 in 1 ball. You will get your money worth and some. Outstanding hit, great cover, excellent core, driller friendly, and can cover a wide range of reactions that you're looking for in a ball.
