900 Global Origin Review
Layout-VLS 5x4 3/8x2
Surface-Storm Power Edge
The 900 Global features a new Ellipse Asymmetrical AI core wrapped in the new RB93 Hybrid Coverstock.
The Origin core uses a very strong intermediate diff which makes it very strong at the breakoint.
The Origin will be a great compliment to the to the 900 Global lineup.
Compared to the Harsh Reality Pearl you will see more length and a stronger move at the breakpoint with no quit on the backend.
The Orgin will still read the midlane but with a strong angular motion on the backend creating a strong enrty angle.
The Orgin reminds me alot of the OG Zen through the fronts but with a strong backend motion.
Available November 22nd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roto Grip Attention Star S2 Review
Layout-VLS 5.25x3.75x1.75
Surface-2000 Dull
The S2 uses the same core as the orginal Attention Star with AI Technology wrapped with the E-Trax Hybrid Coverstock.
The S2 will be a great option to handle heavy oil with a continous motion on the backend.
Sometimes the big heavy oil balls get foward on the backend while the S2 will be more continous.
Once the lane transitions and you need more length and backend you will be able to go to the OG Attention Star.
The Attention Star's will be a great 1-2 punch on heavy oil.
The X-Cell will be earlier than the S2 but more smooth motion on the backend.
The Attention Star S2 will be available November 22nd!!!!!!

Roto Grips newest HP4 release is a hybrid version of the super popular Attention Star. The new Attention Star S2 (Sequence 2) again features the powerful Momentous™ AV + core surrounded by Amplified Inertia technology. They wrapped it in a sanded Etrax Plus Hybrid cover. This cover creates greater footprint earlier than the original while still providing great down-lane movement.

I tested the S2 the first time in league. Anticipating the need for more oil I wanted to give it the first try out when I was sure I'd have a fresh condition. It only took a couple balls to realize that this had a very unique motion from the Attention Star. The S2 has a very noticeable mid-lane read and great continuation. It reminded me a lot of the Eternity Pi in the midlane but with more motion in the back-end of the lane. This allowed me to stay in the ball longer. In terms of overall hook it is a small step down from the X-Cell but in my opinion it stays in play much longer.

I did also bowl a practice session on a lane which had some open play and was pleasantly surprised to observe that the S2 had no problem finishing on a lane with more carry-down. The ability to trust this ball to start hooking in the middle of the lane takes a lot of the guesswork out of what it will do in the backend. This ball makes a great alternative to some of the more aggressive Assyms that want to get a bit forward as soon and the fronts start to hook. It's also better suited as a first ball out in oil for people who have slower ball speeds.

43294 - 900 Global / Origin Review
« Last post by addynyr on November 22, 2024, 02:59:36 PM »
Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 3
Surface: Power Edge
Rev Rate: 470
Tilt: 13*

The 900 Global Origin brings a brand-new core and coverstock combination to the 900 series lineup.  The Core is the brand-new Ellipse AI Core and coverstock is the brand new RB93 Hybrid.  The combination of these two bring a new look on the lanes for the lineup.  The Sapphire/Sky/Purple colors really pop on the shelf and on the lanes making it very easy to recognize the rotation of the ball as it goes down the lane.  The RB93 Hybrid coverstock feels like it has a lot of teeth to it.  It can handle heavier oil with ease, and it shows in its performance.  What makes this ball stand out, is its continuation.

On my 44ft Typical House Pattern, the strength of the core allows this ball to be used on the fresh where you still need the ball to slow down enough to strike.  The coverstock also allows this ball to in to out on the lanes if that is more of your strength.  The versatility of this ball will allow this ball to be used in multiple transition periods.  In my league, I am able to use this ball on the fresh while giving me the advantage of being further left of my fellow competitors.  The continuation of this ball allows me to continue to move left with my feet as transition occurs without sacrificing hitting power.  The backend shape is a strong and semi angular motion that helps blend the lanes well.  The characteristic of this ball allows can make this ball the first ball out of my bag or a later game ball when carry down starts to occur.  Compared to the Harsh Reality, it is definitely cleaner through the front by a few feet and more angular down lane.  Compared to the Harsh Reality pearl, I still see similar comparisons to the solid.  It gives me a very similar midlane strength but is not as forward in the back part of the lane.  The Origin is the more versatile option in my opinion.

I would recommend the Origin to someone who rolls either Harsh Reality and wants a cleaner and more continuous reaction, someone who wants a ball for the fresh where a strong and cleaner cover is necessary or someone who is speed dominant or rev challenged.

Weight • 15 lbs. RG •2.55 Differential • .045
Layout • 4 ½ x 5 x 1 ¾

Storm continues to elevate the success of their “Road” series with the release of the Road Warrior. The Road Warrior combines the Inverted FE2’s Core proven reliability and Storm’s ground-breaking A.I. technology, all wrapped with the next-generation R2S Deep Pearl coverstock. And leave it to Storm to mix all these ingredients and produce the next generation of excellence in the Road Series. So, let’s take a closer look at what makes the Road Warrior an excellent choice for your arsenal.

The Inverted FE2 has always been a smooth and well-balanced core that has given us straighter players the predictability we have come to depend on from the Road Series. And now, inside the Road Warrior, you get the same legendary, well-balanced motion of the Inverted FE2 core. Plus, you also get the dynamic shape and strength that A.I. Technology brings to the SPI family of bowling balls. I like how the Inverted FE2-A.I. Core rev’s in the mid-lane without sacrificing energy because of my slower rev rate. I also like how the Inverted FE2-A.I. core provided a consistent motion regardless of where I was rolling the Road Warrior on the lane. I was also highly impressed at how the A.I. technology brought a vibrant, well-defined motion off the pattern, giving my straighter game the consistency I like to see. Lastly, I liked the added punch and power the A.I. technology gave my Road Warrior because, with that extra energy and continuation, I could carry those lighter, softer hits that would typically leave me with a single-pin spare to shoot. So, it is easy to see how the Inverted FE2-A.I. Core is an excellent choice for any straighter player.

The R2S Deep Pearl Reactive with the Power Edge factory finish initially gave me a bit of a struggle. For my straighter game, I found the factory surface didn’t allow the Road Warrior to bite in the mid-lane where I needed it to, and I had a hard time making the hill. However, when I took my Road Warrior to 1500-grit Abralon and followed that up with Storm’s new Power Edge polish, my Road Warrior lit up the lanes for my low-rev, straighter hand. I found that the surface change of the R2S Deep Pearl coverstock brought excellent consistency and traction in later-night conditions. I especially liked how the R2S Deep Pearl gripped well along the shim line as the night progressed. The R2S Deep Pearl allows the Road Warrior to conserve energy. And I like how that conserved energy allowed the Inverted FE2-A.I. core to deliver a robust sweeping motion at the pocket we straighter players want to see. So, I found that, overall, with the correct surface adjustment to fit your game, the R2S Deep Pearl will deliver results for any straighter player’s game.

In conclusion, the new Road Warrior by Storm is an excellent fit for any straighter player’s arsenal. Whether stand-alone for a new bowler looking for a more vigorous motion than they get from a level one ball or a seasoned bowler looking to compliment their more aggressive arsenal, the Road Warrior is a good fit. And if you are an owner of the original Hy-Road, put the Road Warrior alongside it and enjoy the results of a “Road” arsenal one-two punch! So, stop at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop today and see where your Road Warrior will fit into your arsenal! You will be glad you did!

AA to SPI

I haven't heard of any other really "big" names moving, but there's some more shuffling coming. Someone that won a major in the last couple years is also going to SPI, don't want to spoil something that isn't out there yet, though i'm sure people know if I do.

"EQUIPMENT
During the regular season, players will be able to use any product-registered bowling ball available to them. For example, Roto Grip players can throw Storm and 900 Global equipment; Hammer players can throw Brunswick, Ebonite, Track, DV8, Radical and Columbia 300 equipment.

In the PBA Elite League: Battle of the Brands Championship, however, players will be limited to their single brand’s equipment. To continue the previous example, Roto Grip players will only be able to throw Roto Grip equipment in the finals — not Storm or 900 Global.

Furthermore, since not all brands produce a urethane bowling ball, no player may use urethane equipment during finals matches. The tournament director may grant an exception for equipment used exclusively for spares."

The Track Theorem Hybrid stands out with its impressive sweeping motion and powerful continuation, making it a go-to choice for strikes. While tough to follow, Track's engineers have perfected the next step with the new Theorem Pearl. Rather than reinventing, they enhanced what already works so well. Starting with the same core and cover foundation, they added a pearl finish to the HK22-Prime Response cover, pushing the Theorem Pearl’s motion further down the lane. This upgrade creates a sharper, more defined breakpoint for a dynamic complement to the original.
