Surface: Power Edge
The Road warrior is the predecessor to the Hyroad Pearl and has a lot of high expectations. The Road Warrior brings back the Inferted AI Fe core found in The Road along with the R2S Deep Pearl coverstock which has not been used yet stateside. The Road Warrior provides a lot of length very similar to the Hyroad Pearl but reads the midlane stronger due to the AI core. Even though the coverstock is in fact weaker, the core allows the ball to still read the body of the lane well. The combination of the core and cover really matches up with this ball. On my 44ft typical house shot, I felt that I didn't need as much dry on the lanes for the ball on the lanes. It was clean as I expected but got into the roll phaze faster than I anticipated which I feel is great for my style. The Road Warrior will be great as a later transition ball due to the clean characteristics of it. Those who have lower tilt or slow ball speed on higher friction lanes, will really enjoy the Road Warrior. It probably won't be ideal on the fresh especially with the power edge finish. Bringing the surface down without the power edge will bring the hook closer to you and make it a little more useful for fresh. I would choose The Road more often on the fresh as the coverstock is stronger and more rolly overall. What i do enjoy about this ball is the ease to open the lanes up and creating more down lane hook. This ball creates a lot of angle down lane making it ideal to play the inside part of the lane. This ball would be most ideal to be paired with The Road or a step down from the Phaze AI.
