58946 - Storm / Re: Ion Max
« Last post by chasev97 on November 12, 2024, 08:15:34 AM »
This ball is a unique and updated take on the quintessential big asym solid. This is the big, strong snow tire piece that you need on heavy oil or to blend out the cliff. As for what makes this ball unique: the NRG Solid cover is strong, and this is the first time we've seen this cover stateside since the Trend 2 (which was a hybrid). The A.I. core technology adds to the predictability that you want out of this type of ball. A.I. core technology also creates a longer continuation window, which makes this ball more continuous than other similar/previous big solid asyms. The result is a smooth, continuous, strong ball that keeps its axis longer, continues better, and hits harder. This has been my go-to ball to blend out the cliff, and it will be yours too.

10946 - Storm / Storm Ion Pro
« Last post by StormRoto on November 11, 2024, 10:23:44 PM »
The new ball in the Storm Premier line is the Storm Ion Pro.  Can you say benchmark ball!  This is a ball that has been missing from the storm line, a low diff low RG asymmetrical bowling ball. I drilled mine 4 1/2 x 4 x4x2 pin up.  The ION pro is a perfect combo of length and strength.  Not too early or a huge backend motion.  ION just gives you control.  2 handers absolutely loves the ION. The ION pro is a good compliment to the other staples in the lineup Phaze 2 and IQ Tour.  Not as early as a Phaze 2 and not as much on backend as an IQ.  Great ball and sales have been great.  A true winner from Storm.

58328 - 900Global / Re: Harsh Reality Pearl
« Last post by Chicago972 on November 11, 2024, 03:05:02 PM »
Hello everyone and welcome to another Beyond the Arrows Ball Reviews brought to you by Striking Results Pro Shop, Bowlifi and Turbo 2 n 1 Grips, today we will be reviewing the new 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl.
The Harsh Reality Pearl has a low RG value of 2.48 which means it will rev up early and a medium differential of 0.054 and a high intermediate differential of 0.019 which will have a slightly sharp change of direction on the backend.
The HRP isn’t the pearl version of the solid Harsh Reality, in my opinion the second coming of the Altered Reality.
The HRP has the Reserve Blend 902 cover stock finished with Reacta Gloss and features a similar chemical composition of the S84 Response Cover as the Reality.
The 902 Reserve Blend coverstock is wrapped around the Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Core which features the same unique single density inner core as the original Reality, however the outer core is the groundbreaking A.I. Core. You will notice that the RG is lower, the differential is higher, and the intermediate differential is higher when compared to the original Reality. This means that you will see a similar shape as the original Reality, but with more overall performance on the heaviest patterns.
I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Altered Reality and the Storm DNA Coil on a 42 ft house shot, 25 ml of oil.
In comparison to the Altered Reality, the HRP is a little bit earlier and al little bit sharper on the backend due to the AI core.  If you wanted to have both in your bag you could but I would change the surface on one of them to have some variance between them.
In comparison to the Storm DNA Coil, the HRP again is earlier and sharper but the Coil is cleaner through the mids and not as sharp on the backend which makes the Coil a little more versatile on an array of conditions.
As per the surface adjustments, the HRP comes out of the box with Reacta Gloss which is 500>2,000>4000, reacta gloss which goes long but will be great on the medium to dry conditions.
On heavy oil the optimum surface would be a 500 grit Abralon.
In the bag, will be the Roto Grip Gem, HRP, Attention Star and Sublime

29692 - Radical / Re: Zig Zag Solid
« Last post by Maine Man on November 11, 2024, 01:52:02 PM »
I drilled the Radical Zig Zag Solid 35 x 5” x 35 to be THE benchmark asymmetric solid in my bag, and it does not disappoint. The Zig Zag Solid builds on the impressive reputation of the original Zig Zag Hybrid and takes it to a whole new level! The Zig Zag Solid was designed to allow a greater change in Differential numbers after drilling. The total Differential range after drilling can be as low as 0.030 and as high as 0.057, and the Intermediate Differential has a range of 0.010 to 0.030, making this a unique and versatile performance ball. When compared to other asymmetric solids in the Radical Lineup, I have the Zig Zag Solid right in between the Conspiracy and Max Bias for total hook, with the Zig Zag Solid being the most responsive down lane of the three. The Zig Zag Solid is also about 1-2 feet earlier than the original Zig Zag, while having about 3-4 boards more total hook. I have used it on everything from easy house shots to the toughest of 1:1 sport patterns, and the Zig Zag Solid really performs well! The Zig Zag Solid takes to cover changes exceptionally well and is best suited for medium-heavy to heavy volumes of oil. If you need that big asymmetric solid in your bag, punch up a Zig Zag Solid and go nuts! Order your Zig Zag Solid from Bowler Builders Pro Shop and join the Radical Revolution today!!

29692 - Radical / Re: No Doubt
« Last post by Maine Man on November 11, 2024, 01:29:36 PM »
I drilled the No Doubt 4.5” x 35 to be a true benchmark symmetric pearl that was still strong enough to handle medium-heavy volumes, and the No Doubt might become my favorite bowling ball I’ve drilled in a long time. The No Doubt is a Super-Symmetrical ball with a core that will maintain axis rotation longer, making it less likely to roll forward at the end of the pattern. I rolled a clean 743 my first set out of the box in a bowling center that has had very few 700’s this season. The No Doubt clears the mid-lane so well and has an aggressive angular shape that has been missing from the Radical lineup. When compared to another symmetric pearl, the Deadly Rattler, the No Doubt is about 2-3 feet cleaner, but over 4 boards more overall hook! The Radical No Doubt I drilled has been used on a variety of sport and house patterns, and I have been very impressed with its versatility and ability to take to surface changes. It is not super allergic to oil but is best suited to those medium volume patterns. If you have been missing that booming symmetric pearl from your bag, grab a No Doubt and start wheeling the lane now! Order your No Doubt from Bowler Builders Pro Shop and join the Radical Revolution today!!

29692 - Columbia 300 / Re: Super Cuda PowerCOR Hybrid
« Last post by Maine Man on November 11, 2024, 01:07:09 PM »
I drilled the Super Cuda PowerCOR 4.25” x 30 to mimic the same layout I put on the original Cuda PowerCOR, as I wanted to see the exact differences between these two balls, taking the layout out of the equation. The Super Cuda PowerCOR does not disappoint. The Formula 1 hybrid cover really has some “teeth”, so it allows me to play around with less friction and still create the ball motion needed to sustain excellent pin carry. I have the Super Cuda PowerCOR about 1-2 feet later than the original solid, and about 1-2 boards more overall hook. The thing that impresses me the most about the Super Cuda PowerCOR is that it is not a sensitive ball at all. It helps blend the oil pattern for me, being forgiving on shots that hit friction, and holding line well on shots in heavier volumes of oil. A great benchmark hybrid symmetric, this is one everyone should have in their bag. I have used it on both sport and house shots, and the Super Cuda PowerCOR takes to surface changes very well for whatever you encounter on the lanes. Order your Super Cuda PowerCOR now from Bowler Builders Pro Shop and take a bite out of the pins today!

If you like Motiv, I'd look towards the Max Thrills (solid or pearl)

Otherwise, Track Tundra Blue Fire, Ebonite Fireball, DV8 Chill Pearl.

There's some good options depending on your situation. I've personally seen many senior bowlers with slower speed do well with the Track Tundra series

The Max Thrill Solid is one of the smoothest balls I have used. It's a true keeper.

Some great names here! 'Pho King Good' and 'Britney Spares' gave me a good laugh. Thinking of going with something like 'Spare Wars' or 'Bowl Movements.' Anyone else got more puns up their sleeve?

I saw another one this weekend I found interesting. It's probably been used before, but I had not seen it.

I've noticed my own bowling balls losing their grip over time, too. I've used a basic cleaner, but I’m considering trying CTD’s products after seeing them recommended here. Has anyone tried their Life After Death cleaner over an extended period? Also curious about the sonic oil remover—anyone had luck with that for serious oil buildup?

I use CTD Life After Death on a regular basis. It does seem to help somewhat, if you follow the instructions closely.

The sonic oil removers are your best solution if one is available in your area at a reasonable cost.

One new product I received last week seem to work really well is the new Venom Cleaner from Motiv. It's too soon to tell, but the few uses I have had so far look promising.
