We received this ball as a comp. ball from our distributor.  We drilled it up for on of our pro shop guys.  This bowlers has a 10 to 30 degree axis tilt depending on the lane condition.  Normal rev and ball speed.  We used a stacked drilling for this ball, 5x5 layout.

This ball is a monster.  The first couple of shot where hooking all over the place and after that is calmed down to the normal reaction.  In the box condition this ball needs oil up front to get the ball down the lane.  This bowler was able to move inside of everyone else on the pair and use the heavy head oil in the center to get the ball down the lane, coming out of the oil at about 35 to 40 feet.  This ball then turn the corner and blew the rack up.

In the box condition, you will need some fresh oil to get this ball down the lane.  If you need more length out of this ball, just add polish and the Assault will get down the lane a lot easier.  Dry lane condition will not be this balls strong point, unless you do some surface preping.

On a scale of 1-10, I would give this ball a 7.  It will be to strong of bowlers with a lot of hand, and when they dry up, this particle shell will have some early burn.

I am a righty that has speed between 15 and 17mph with better than average revs. I have had this ball for a couple of weeks now. The ball is drilled with a very tame lable drilling with the pin located next to my ring finger, no weight hole was required and the cg kicked out a tad. I bowl in all synthetic houses ranging from 10 to 10 block to the christmas tree pattern. I almost decided not to buy this ball because of my past experiences with the dreaded SD73.  Throw the SD73 out of the window because this is not your fathers rotogrip ball.  This is one heavy rolling, hard hitting monster. With this drilling I stand on 20 and lay the ball on the 11 board out to 6 and the ball has good length and a very strong hard arching backend.  I could not believe the sound this ball made when it hit the pocket KABLAM, total destruction.  I have to put the ball back in the bag after the first game and a half because it does not handle the carry down well, it will skid on the carry and never make it back, but hey I have other balls that will handle the carry down.  Over all I would rate this ball a solid 8.5

I have this ball drilled leverage with the pin on the top edge of my ring finger.  I am a RH tweener with a ball speed of 17-20 mph, and
about 15-20 revs.  I got this ball used and just redrilled it for me, just hoping to get my money's woth out of it.  I did, the first game with
this ball I shot 299.  I have been throwing ball on a house shot, oiled 12 to 12 about 40 ft long.  Right now it's surface looks like it is
sanded between 800-1000 grit, and it hits like a truck now.  From what I've been hearing if I polish it, it will only hit harder.  If anybody out
there is thinking about getting one of these, do yourself a favor and do it, you won't regret it.  I will update this after i have tried it polished.

I have had this ball for some while now.  I had heard horror stories about the lnogevity of the cover, so I wanted to see for myself what the problem was, if any.  My Assault is drilled pin-PAP 4" with the mais biased moved a little to the right of the pin togive the angle of core about 50 degrees.  I have found this to be a very good drilling for me with the particles.  The first condition was an old wood house with fresh backends.  With my speed(19-20) I had no problem getting the ball down the lane, but when the ball hit the fresh backends I was extremely impressed with the movement and power of this ball.  The harder to right I through it, the sharper the corner.  I have never seen a particle ball come in behind the head pin with so much force.  I was blowing racks and leaving 6-10's, yes these were strong pocket hits.  The ball came in at such a strong angle, the 3 pin was going just left of the 6 pin.
the next condition I tried it on was a 10-10 tube with a little carry down.  Where you needed to bump the dry at the right time or the ball would react way to early.  With the carry down on the backends, the flip was tamed down a bit, as to be expected, but the hitting power increased.  This is a wonderful ball when you need to create extra backend that the lane condition in not giving you.
The coverstock has held up well, all I have done is cleaned it.  Have not even needed to resurface it yet.

Got my Assault specifically for the new heavier oil pattern my primary house has begun to use.  Punched out a 15# 3.5" pin with about 3 oz. top using the "4 star" RotoGrip drill pattern, box finish, basically stacked leverage. I'm a right-handed medium track stroker/tweener, and I can usually vary my revs and ball speed within a reasonable range to try and improve or modify the ball's reaction, depending upon conditions.

I was expecting a high flare hook monster, but it was nothing of the sort. I had to add a lot of hand to get even moderate reaction, and the ball became squirty and difficult to keep on my breakpoint as carrydown developed and the differentiation between wet & dry became a little vaguer.

I had it plugged and redrilled a little more aggressively, the "5 star" drilling which has the pin a little wider and the CG kicked in a little closer to the thumbhole, and the surface taken down to 600.  Still nothing. Very flat, inconsistent back end, not much hitting power.

One more try, taking the surface to 320, and surprise, it came alive!  Big smooth arc, lots of hitting power, very similar to the Visionary Scorcher in surface texture and reaction. Pins stayed low, no problems with corner carry. I had to make only minor moves to manage the entire three game set in a typical league night, though it was showing some signs of rolling out neat the end of #3.  I suspect that a little Black Magic would extend its useful life, though I have not tried that as yet.

I'd rate it about a 7, only because it took so much work to make it live up to its advertising.  Those with more hand may have much simpler time of it.  One caution:  I was told by the pro shop that did the drilling that there's a run of these balls with faulty coverstocks (needless to say, I thought mine was one of them at first). Your pro shop can verify the serial numbers of the bad ones, so use a little caution when purchasing one.

I had just sold 5 of my bowling balls and was in the market for a new ball.  I was making my usual rounds at my work (the bowling alley) when a particular house ball on the rack caught my eye.  So for some reason i decided to check it out.  First i noticed it was a roto grip, i got excited but no big deal.  Then i notice it was an assault, i started to have a hard time breathing.  Then i notice it had a 4" pin, no wear, and a strong drilling.  Now i knew i was dreaming.

The ball is drilled with the pin 1" above the ring finger.  The mass bias is right next to the thumb.  The cg is kicked to the right a little.  It was left with the box surface.

The shot put out for the sunday morning league is a long pattern, 45' of heavy oil that thins out from the 5 board out.  The backends are stripped.  I decided to take this bad boy out after the league ended.  The league is only a three man league so the shot was still good.

The ball made it thru the heavy oil well, hit 35 feet and started to arc, then ripped back to the pocket.  I was messing around with different shots but when i hit the pocket, it struck hard, very few taps.  Very powerful, a lot like my colossus but much more angular into the pocket.  Very good piece of equipment.

i have this ball a wile now and had some trobbel whit out the box finish.
On oile lanes i had not enough hook, and on hooking lanes I get too much hodok, whith some 8 and 7 pins, the lanes in that house is some oil in the middle and on the outside less oil, I polish the ball, and shot my first 700 in that house 201,266,235, Litght and full hits were strike now,no more solids.
If the lanes are oily I use my sd73 this ball hits harder, but revs slower.
Great ball from roto-grip          http://

Pin low for earlier roll, kept the finish in the box condition (shined).

This ball hits great! It carries very well, when the shot is there to use it. It hooks alot, but definately not among the bigger hookers, though that could have to do with me leaving it shined.

The drilling I had on this ball made it very condition specific.

I liked this ball alot, A very solid 8.5 out of 10.

I just drilled this ball out last tuesday. WOW!! I put the pin 7 1/2" from my PAP at 10:30 (I'm a rt hander) the mass bias is in the strong position. All static weights are zero. I get alot of length out of this layout, and the ball rolls so hard and strong on the backend. The break point is very controlled and doesn't over or under react. With this layout the ball rarely finishes late or behind the headpin resulting in more carried 10 pins. The ball with this layout was very good to me out of the box, 279, 224, 278. I am very impressed with the equipment coming from roto-grip.
