I just got my second Cell pearl with the pin under the ring and the MB kicked out past the VAL drilled up Sat. Basically a 3.5 x4 layout. I was looking for something with a little earlier roll than my 1st Cell pearl which is drilled 4x4 with a 2.5 inch pin buffer. This layout was right on the money!!! Decided to go with a 4000 grit surface and this ball is the definition of smooth and strong. This drilling picks up about 3-4 feet sooner than my 1st Cell pearl. I had my doubts on this ball at first due to the drilling on my 1st Cell pearl as it was almost too skid snappy. Now I see what all the hype is about . I shot 737 last night on my 1st league outing. Between the original Cell and the Cell pearl I can handle 90% of the lanes I encounter. This will be pearl ball of the year... No doubt!!!!

Update 3-11-09 Shot 232, 236 and 300 for 768 tonight in my 2nd shift league. My 3rd 300 with RG. The best equipment period....

My Cell Pearl is drilled 60x40x4 1/4

This ball is absolutely awesome. This is the best ball i have ever thrown in 10 yrs of bowling and i have had tons of ball in that time. Buy one now if you don't need a ball or aren't looking for a new one buy this ball anyway. I can use it on every kind pattern except for dry stuff and it gets it done. It also is extremely forgiving you definitely have some room to miss with this ball. Rotogrip could not have done a better job. I contest that right now that anyone can make a ball better than this.
Outstanding job Rotogrip and go Wes Malott!!!!

Last season I was using the cell for my leagues it was great. Since I heard that RotoGrip was coming out with a new cell that was pearlized and more length. I needed a ball that had more length and carry. I got the CP and it has changed my game alot. It reads the lanes well and does not loose its edge when the lanes break down. I am a med rev along with med ball speed. With this ball i have had more 200+ games in my league. I feel that this ball is the best ball out there by far. In 10 mins of pratice i start off with my cell for a few throws on each lane then throw the CP for a few to see what the lane are doing that night. Most of the time i go with the CP after the 10 mins of warm-ups. i have got to say this is the ball to have for any player. RotoGrip has built a great balls in the crown line. They are by far the best line of balls out there on the market. I would say give it a try and let other know what u think. I feel that u will love it as much as i do.

Used the ball in two collegiate bowling tournaments in Las Vegas and the ball worked well as a great transition ball.  Its layout is 3.5'' pin, with mb on the VAL.  The shot was a heavy oil cheetah style pattern 2:1 ratio.  This ball was great in getting through the fried heads from the competition early in the day while putting enough backend on the ball where to carry efficiently.  It also had enough recovery to get back to the pocket when I missed right.  For my ball speed and rev rate, the ball did not have enough surface to play where I was comfortable at the beginning of the day, but ended the day well!

My Cell Pearl is laid out with 5” x 3” mass bias layout.   I first used my Cell Pearl on a 39 foot house shot at our home center. This ball is perfect for medium oil lanes. Nice for any house shot.  It gives me a strong reaction from all parts of the lane.  I feel like I have a very big margin for error with this ball.

On heavier oil, it seems to go a bit too long and not finish as well.  On most other conditions, it gives me the best look of anything in my bag.  I highly recommend this ball for all kinds of medium conditions.

I received my Cell Pearl through the RotoGrip Collegiate Program.  It is drilled with a 5” by 3” pin to PAP.
I first used my Cell Pearl on the house pattern at our home center, which is dry on the outsides and heavy in the middle.  I have also thrown it on shorter patterns.  The Cell Pearl gives me good reaction on these patterns.  It also gives me quite a bit of room on the lanes on a house shot.
The Cell Pearl is my favorite ball to use on shorter or house patterns.  It goes longer on the lanes than the Cell and has a sharper break point.
The Cell Pearl is the first ball I grab out of my bag.  I would definitely recommend this RotoGrip ball for short conditions.

2 3/4" pin
15 LBS 4 0z
Surface: 1500 polished
PAP 5 3/4 1/4 under

I have never tried a ball twice but?...I punched one of these up late last year for a 44ft and 48ft regional pattern..I hated the ball..it was over under and rolled like a square. I sold it the first chance I got and really wondered why i didn't like the ball. I've heard and seen nothing but good things. My conclusion: The Layout I used was just simply too strong for my hand..I was just burning the ball up. Layout 4 3/4" pin to pap, pin under my ring finger MB bout 50 degrees. Weight hole on the val

I got a another one a few days ago...I just had to try this ball again. I laid this one out 6" pin to pap, 5 mb to pap..pin up from the mid-line 3 3/4"...The result SKID, (Revs up) and flips!! I have yet see this ball roll out, or fail to rev up...Man this is the ball

This ball is so ugly on the lane...Its so quick off the breakpoint..but it's very controllable, very angular, and has superior carry..I feel that the THS that I bowl on is too weak for this ball...

PROS/CONS

I feel it needs a good amount of oil to tame it down for me or I feel the pattern would need to be flatter to allow me to square up and go up the boards with this ball. Surface prep would be my next option if I wanted to utilize it on a THS.

If you see em lookin while you rollin, then you probably got em in a bracket...

I purchased this ball back in early February and tossed it after coming back from wrist surgery. Last year I had the original cell and although I loved the ball, it did take some adjusting. I normally prefer for a ball to have a strong back end motion and the cell pearl doesn't disappoint.

Drilled up with a 4 1/2 pin, 6 X 5 modded layout and I play from deep inside.

This ball is a monster! I had originally purchased it planning on placing a weak layout on it, but was convinced by my pro shop to go with something stronger. Out of the bag I shot 727 on a sport shot. It carries hard and doesn't stop driving through the deck. That can hurt you because the only issue I've seen is that if you catch too much dry sometimes you'll leave a nice ringing 9-pin. On a condition where I was struggling to get my Virtual Gravity to carry I switched to the pearl and threw the next 9 to finish with a 267. Carry down is no problem for this ball.

A must have ball for any house shot. It's a solid ball for sport conditions if you keep your had firm and your speed stable.

Just got mine drilled up a few days ago, have about 10 practice games on it. To take full advantage of this ball, it seems you have to trust in its ability to come back from extreme angles, down-and-in is a waste of this ball's potential. Move inside and trust it and you will be amazed at how good this ball is, great recovery on wide shots, very impressed so far. I'm a stroker, and was encouraged by my very astute ball driller to use a little axis tilt hand position and move inside and trust it, which was great advice.

Man what a ball. I have drilled 4 of these already and the versatility is incredible. This could be a candidate for ball of the year 2009. I have one layout that is my favorite. I put the pin to the left and above the middle finger with the CG in centerline with the MB kicked out slighty. A diagonal stack of sorts. I have used and had success in league and in PBA regionals. This layout allowed me to get plenty of length through the fronts with a strong move on the back. But, not uncontrollable. All I have to do is make normal surface adjustments and I can use this ball on just about anything. If you like the original you will love this one.

This maybe the ball of the year for 2009! I purchased the original Cell and thought that RotoGrip could not improve on perfection.....I was dead wrong! This ball carries everything, it even carried my other balls out to my car. I have a 5 x 3 drilling with the mb at 75 degrees. This ball on a house shot can play all the angles. I have always been suspect of pearl balls because of carry-down and league bowlers who through plastic bowling balls but the Cell Pearl made me change my views about pearl bowling balls. You cannot go wrong by adding the Cell Pearl to your arsenal.

To whom that is looking for a great ball on medium - heavy oiled lanes,
I purchased my Cell Pearl from Mike Wolfe in Louisville, KY at Executive lanes where he has a pro-shop. I had Mike drill the ball real strong, placing the pin below the ring finger because I do not put alot of hand behind the ball. The ball is very consistent going down the lanes then turns very clean towards the head pin. The ball enters the head like a bull in a China shop"NOT MUCH LEFT STANDING!!!" I own 11 bowling balls right now all drilled a little differently for the situation of the lanes and this one is the most consistent of all of them. If you are in the market for a new ball keep this one in mind as you look, it might be the best purchase you can make!!!! Good luck Mike...

This ball did wonders for me at states. Best states I ever had. Real even all the way down the lane and very predicatable. Pin 4" above and Mass kick a little and small balance hole on axis.

See profile for stats.

Lay Out: 4.5" from PAP at 80* PAP angle and 25* VAL angle, the RG ended up in my thumb. The pin ended up above my ring finger about an inch. There is a weight hole on my axis of 7/8" about 2" deep.

Surface: I have used it box and left it shined.

Purpose: I was trying to duplicate a layout I had on a Gravity Shift that I really liked. I wanted a stronger pearl that read the mids and then layed off some on the back.

Lane condition Observations: I have thrown this mainly on league patterns, but did give it a try on the US Open pattern I bowled on on in a sweeper. This ball does pick up nicely in the mids and rolls thru the pins almost like a forward roll. I am able to get away with some miss inside of my target with the layout slowing down the ball for me quite nicely.

Final thoughts: The Cell Pearl is a nice compliment to it's predecessor, the Cell. It shows some of the same charachteristics and I can see why Wes Malott threw it on TV constantly this past PBA season. This is a great add to any arsenal.

See profile for stats.

Lay Out: 5" from PAP at 30* PAP angle and 65* VAL angle, the RG ended up just past my axis. The pin ended up under my ring finger about an 1/2". There is a 7/8" weight hole down my axis 2", 2" deep. I just missed the RG by less that a half an inch with the hole.

Surface: I have used it 4000abr.

Purpose: I was trying to duplicate a layout I had on a second Gravity Shift that I really liked. I wanted something that read early and set up so I could square up on higher friction surfaces and shorter patterns.

Lane condition Observations: I have thrown this so far on our league pattern and this ball reads early and strong. I was able to move in since the pair had some lineage on it. I had no problem getting the ball to roll. If I let it into the friction too early, it would ping. Part of that is the layout, part of that is the surface. I will be trying this one out on the PBAX Chameleon this week so I will post more information.

Final thoughts: I am waiting to see what tweaks can be done to this one to get it to fit in a slot for me. Since the Cell Pearl is a great ball, I have faith this will fit once I figure out the surface and when to break this out.
