For a ball that has been around for while, this seems to pop-up on the review board quite a bit. Now I see why.
I recently bought a used one, it is 15 lb, a drop for me, from my usual 16. Old age creeping in maybe?
This ball is laid out with the pin under the ring finger with the cg swung just off the palm. A small hole is drilled in the side to give it 5/8 ounce of side weight. (Not sure of the exact measurements)
THIS BALL IS A BACK END MONSTER.
The shot it has been thrown on, is THS, oiled to about 25 feet and then buffed to 40. The backends are usually clean, but there is a typical carry down phase that usually makes the ball check up in the second game. Most often the third game, things really start to fly.
Nine games into use and I am amazed at the versatility of the ball. It handles oil surprisingly well for a pearl, as I can get left with into oil and still feel like it is not skidding too much. It has allowed me to swing the ball out and get an angle to the pocket that I have not had in years. The hit and carry are phenomenal. Off hits, high or light, have pins scattering all over the deck and on solid pocket hits it destroys them. I have left a few ten pins with it, primarily on balls I tugged.
Series so far with it 743 - 633 - 717. Very happy with the results. I would suggest if you are looking for a pearl ball, keep this one in mind. I believe it is discontinued, but I have seen pro-shops with them. This ball is suppoosd to be tamer than the new Roto-Grip RS-1, but I sure as hell do not need more than the Siver Streak Pearl.
