Ball Review:
The Hustles will be a great option on those lower to medium volume oil patterns or transitioned lanes where the fronts have gone away.
The Hybrid will be a smoother more controllable reaction than the pearl whereas the latter will provide cleaner/more angular motion downlane.
I did a pin down layout on the hybrid as I would want that as my first go to ball to keep my angles in front of me. Plus the solid within the hybrid allows this additional control.
On the 2 pearls I placed a pin down and pin up on each to see the different shot shapes. With the pin down compared to the hybrid I saw a lot more length and responsiveness downlane than the hybrid. With the pin up pearl compared to the pin down pearl there was definitely a lot more length and angle to that ball.
Wtih each of the 3 new Hustles there will be a step down from each ball - Hybrid to pin down pearl to pin up pearl. Those who were a fan of the previously released Hustles or those looking for a weaker/cleaner piece in their arsenal the newly released Hustles will be a great option to choose from.

The New Hustle HSB (Hybrid Silver Black) is a smooth rolling entry level piece that works great for worn lane surfaces and low volume oil patterns. A large amount of silver coloring has always smoothed a ball out for me and this one is no exception. I decided to really accentuate the even roll and early read with a layout that keeps to that dynamic.

The HSB is fantastic for playing right on conditions which hook more. The 55 X 4 3/4 X 85 layout makes this ball ideal for me on short oil or if in the case of my summer league, I'm looking to use the early friction to avoid back-ends which cause the ball to labor. For me the window to see my ball read the lane and go through the pins is very small in this instance when i'm looking for motion down-lane. Conversely seeing early roll and having the ball already set at the pins gives me more miss room. This is difficult to accomplish with surface on another ball because there is so much early hook. The HSB is the perfect middle ground.

Playing in on the lane requires the angles to be shut down much more as the ball is using it's energy so early. Missing right with almost anything has been disastrous which is why I started seeking to see the ball hook earlier in the first place. As a result the further left on the lane, the straighter the ball-path must be toward the pocket.

Obviously a cleaner layout would be recommended for playing more left to right, but I honestly feel that the Hustle Ink or 3TP are better suited to that line anyway.

Hustle HSB
This new hybrid Hustle is the strongest and smoothest of any other current Hustle, and once again is packed a lot of performance in a low price point ball. These newer pearl Hustles seem slightly weaker than their previously released counterparts but the HSB stands out as the strongest and smoothest shape. This is a great piece for those looking for a weaker ball that is slower response to friction.

Review:
The Roto Grip Hustle HSB is another nice option into the Hustle line due to Hybrid cover. I really like that in the Hustle line there are three options of cover to tune in the ball reaction you want. Roto has the Ink for early and smooth, the AU for length and backend and the HSB that wedges nicely between the two, The Smokey Grey color is excellent and we have sold more than a few based just on color. The HSB looks great with green grips and a green thumb slug to match the logos. I was looking for a ball that would pick up a bit sooner than my Hustle AU so I punched up the HSB. The difference is not real big with my lower rev rate but was just what I was looking for. The HSB reads the lane earlier than my AU and is smoother off the spot. The hit is better than expected for a ball at this low price point. It has been an easy sell to my customers due to the price, performance and color.
The HSB is a nice option when lanes are medium to dry or get a bit squirrely. It plays well on a wet dry house shot and can be a good control ball with smaller pip to PAP distances. We will be keeping the Hustles at our shops to help our customers bowl better at an extreme value.

Summary:
The Hustle HSB is the Hybrid in the Hustle Line.
The Color of the HSB is very appealing to bowlers.
The performance is better than the price you pay.

I drilled the Hustle HSB with a specific reaction in mind, and I got what I wanted, and even a bit more. To have a controllable ball reaction to use when the lanes get wet/dry or over/under, I drilled the HSB with a 1 1/2 pin to my p.a.p. I then hit the ball with an old 3000 pad to take a bit of the shine off. What I got was a ball that has enough traction that I can actually use it, using straighter angles, on fresh conditions. What I did not expect, however, was that it would still have enough backend that I could move left and use it when the lanes are broken down, as well. I am happily surprised by the amount of downlane traction that the HSB possesses. It has turned out to be very versatile, and a great addition to my bag.
