Hustle USA
« on: September 16, 2022, 04:37:07 PM »
In sports we are always told to hustle well now Roto Grip is providing a ball that will do just that on the lanes. The Roto Grip Hustle USA uses the proven Hustle core and pairs it with the VTC (Versatile Traction Control) Hybrid Reactive coverstock which is 2 parts pearl and 1 part solid. This cover is finished with a 3000 grit sanding to offer aggressiveness on light to medium oil conditions.

Color: Ultra Red/Snow/Azure (USA)
All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown
Coverstock: VTC Hybrid Reactive
Core: Hustle (14#-16#) (Lightbulb core for 13# & 12# and a puck core for 11# & 10#)
Finish: 3000-grit Abralon
RG: 2.53 (15# ball)
Differential: 0.030 (15# ball)
Recommended Lane Condition: Light to Medium Oil

Roto Grip Hustle USA: Hustle Core with VTC Hybrid cover stock –
factory finish is 3000ab, but I changed the surface to match my 2nd Hustle CAMO that is 4k fast. The layout is 50 x 4 x 50. Currently using it in my scratch doubles league on a 46ft THS that was a BIG cliff on the back of the pattern and not really blended well front to back and side to side. super dry outside of 12 and super heavy conditioner between 16 to 16 across the boards with older HPL lane panels. I love this Hustle USA, because it outperforms all other Hustles that have been released
since the Hustle INK was discontinued on this THS, The CAMO is smoother and not as strong in the backend as the USA, the USA will roll through the heavier part of the pattern without giving up as much energy as the CAMO. The USA still turns the corner from the hook to roll phase of the ball motion. The coloring allows me to read the direction changes on the ball more clearly than the Hustle CAMO and
Wine. Even as the carry down starts and we get into later games, the ball does not give up and lose any power and carry. The Hustle USA outperforms balls on the market that are $30 to $80 higher in price. The team in Utah has won a GOLD medal on this Hustle USA.

Oh I do love me a Hustle!

The Hustle line has been quite good to me over the years.  The majority of tournaments that I bowl are on house yet many of these tournaments are longer formats.  Later in the day, after transition has set in, lanes begin to get tough.  The Hustle line has consistently proved that It can tackle those conditions.  I see the Hustles as being high end balls for drier conditions.

The Hustle USA is a bit quicker down lane than my Camo or my INK.  I changed the surface of my USA by hitting it with a 500 pad, then with Storm Step 2 compound.  Shiny cover with some teeth underneath!

I actually like to drill my Hustles weaker, using a 4.5” pin to pap, pin down layout: 4.5x4.5x3.75

Other balls getting a lot of play:
Dark Code-4x6x2
Night Road-4.5x4.5x3.75
Idol Cosmos-4x5x2
Wolverine Dark Moss-4.25x5.25x2

Review:

The Hustle USA is the new addition to the HP1 line. This ball is going to be a great ball for experienced league bowlers or the bowlers that are new to the sport. This layout is a very controllable layout and allows me to play a little further right than other balls and maintains a smooth shape on the back end. For me this is a great ball for the first ball out of my bag on league or when I need a bailout and trying to control a pattern. Compared to the Hustle Camo this ball is going to read a touch more in the mids but will give a stronger shape. The balls play similar, but the camo is going to be a stronger ball compared to the Hustle Camo. It is a great bang for your buck. Get yours today at your local Storm VIP pro shop.

Ball Review Hustle USA RG: 2.53 Dif: .030 Cover: VTC Hybrid Cover 3000 Factory Finish
PAP 5 3/8 over 1 5/16 UP, Medium/Ball Speed Rev Rate 255-300 Layout: 4 x 4 x 2

The newest addition to the Hustle line in the Hustle USA and did this ball surprise me. This new hybrid cover is stronger than you might think for a “entry level” ball. I have become a big fan of hybrid covers. The USA has a nice smooth motion with a strong backend motion. It’s a bit longer than hyped hybrid and a bit more angular off the spot. The USA doesn’t over reaction off friction and is good on medium oil conditions. The USA is controlled and can be a good transition ball that can blend out the pattern as well as starting on fresh depending on your style. The Hustle USA is a keeper!

The new Hustle USA features the VTC Hybrid cover and the well-known Hustle core.

The biggest difference I see in the USA versus say the Hustle Wine and Camo, is that the USA is earlier and more continuous than the its counterparts. While the overall hook values are similar, the USA feels like it can handle more oil because it is not as quick off the friction or quick to stop as other Hustles.

I was expecting the Hustle USA to remind me of the Hustle HYB of years past but I don’t get those vibes at all. The USA almost feels like the hyped Solid’s little brother. For me It seems to work best when it does not try to cover a ton of boards. Once I get too far in and swing it away from the pocket the USA doesn’t seem to be strong enough. But for me it is a monster and playing straighter up the lane either on the fresh or the transition before having to go into a weaker cover and opening up the lane.

I drilled the Hustle USA with a 50x4x25 layout. The intent for this ball was to allow me to stay further right when the friction started to develop. Since I am a low rev player this helps me not have to move further left. The high RG AND Low differential core helps the ball to get through the front part of the lane without hooking to early.
This ball is perfect for me late into game 2 or game 3 when my bigger balls start hooking to much. I love how this ball rolls.

Roto Grip Hustle USA Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

After drilling several of the Hustle line balls over the years, the Hustle USA is the latest addition and stands out from the rest.  I’ve seen all types of players use this ball.  The person who’s just starting to bowl but doesn’t want to spend money on a high performance ball loves the Hustle because of it’s price point.  The league bowlers who want a compliment to some of their other equipment have enjoyed it because when lanes break down, the Hustle is a perfect fit.  Lastly, the tournament players love it for those shorter patterns when they need to control the pocket.

I’ve drilled one so far and really like it.  The differential is .30 so my goal was to make sure it flares enough, otherwise it might be too straight.  I mapped it as 4 x 4 and left the surface alone.  I’ve had the most success on medium to shorter patterns when the backends are crispy or when the middle of the lane is flat.  It’s much cleaner than the high performance balls, but still provides a slower response time that can be extremely useful.

If you’re drilling your first ball, need a compliment to some of your other equipment, or need a ball for shorter patterns, the Hustle USA should be the next ball you drill.

Lets start out that I am a bug fan of the RG Hustle Line.  They are really a lot of bang for your buck.  As they preform way beyond the low end line.  From the Hustle Ink being probably the most popular, to one of my favorites the Camo.  The Hustle USA has great colors and shelf appeal.  I drilled mine with my favorite pin up drilling, 5x4x2 which puts the pin above the middle finger.  I added Storm step 2 to the surface.
I know some staffers have the USA a little flippy, but I saw an earlier motion with a strong arc on the back.  Which is prefect for me when the lanes are wet dry and or pretty clean on the backs.  I have used the USA on house, usually 2nd or 3rd game. But where is really shines for me is the medium or short sport patterns.  It just gives me control. Hustle USA is ball down from Night Road and Dark Moss.
Schlemer did really good with the Hustle USA!

Hustle USA. First off how cool does this ball look…. Another hit in the Hustle line. From entry level to the tournament bowler this ball is a hit, For me this is the biggest back end ball for me off the Hustle line. This balls gets down lane with ease and really makes that stick motion down lane. Really good on the fresh shot .. loving this hustle

Hustle USA 4 x 4 x 2
This ball simply out performs its price point. This has quickly become my benchmark symmetrical ball. This is the perfectly compliment to my stronger Zen Master, especially on medium and house patterns where I do not want to open my angles too fast. The weaker core but solid cover allows me to blend the cliffed house patterns I experience at both centers I bowl at.

I drilled up my Hustle USA 4.5 x 4 x 3. I have thrown it both at box finish and with 2000 on it. What I notice with the HUSTLE USA is a round shape that is surprisingly strong for what is considered the starting line for Roto Grip. I was able to use this on some medium and short patterns with good recovery when it was time to give the pocket away. Compared to my HUSTLE CAMO, it is a little more down lane motion and really gets thru the front when the CAMO is starting to flatten out. This is another of those low end sleeper balls from Roto Grip that will give performance without breaking your wallet.

An absolute house shot killer!!!! The strong cover blends out the over under better then any ball ever has for me. The lower diff core allows me to start in the part of the lane I want to any stay there longer then any other ball I have.

The all new hustle usa has the hustle core wrapped in a vtc hybrid reactive coverstock. The ball is finished at 3000 grit. I ended up laying mine out like the hustle rap and the new hustle usa reads the lane sooner with still having that bite on the back end. For the price of this ball you wont be disappointed in the performance. Get to your local pro shop and drill this gem up.

WOW! What a great looking ball! The colors really pop on the shelf and on the lanes! This ball is by far the best bang for your buck on the market. This ball reads the mid lane great, and it continues through the pins great.
