Pin 4 1/2 inches from PAP (2 inch pin), under ring, small low hole on VAL, went pin down to eliminate any possible (squirt) and tame backend. Needless to say this thing still rips on the back.
Surface: Left as is
Test Centers:
House #2- Brunswick Pro-Anvilane, medium heavy blend, track opens up and carries down slighty.
House #3- HPL's (heads only), wood backends, 34 ft pattern buffed to 37. Track blows up quick forcing players deep early
House #5- HPL's, again not sure of pattern, as mechanic is a caveman lacking people skills. They use an old pad machine and this place flat out hooks, everywhere and from every angle.
House #6- Very old wood, not sure of pattern, not even sure if they employ a lane man or even have a lane machine. Place flat out hooks, early and often.
Was looking for something a tad longer than my One and Overtime, but more strength/recovery than my Ultra Sonic. After mulling it over it came down to the RS-1. Fills a niche right between the Overtime and the Ultra Sonic very well.
Likes-
-Midlane read, most pearls tend to keep going past this point of the lane, not the RS-1
-Recovery/Backend, ball flips back violently from most anywhere, regardless of where you are playing the lane, most backend in my bag, more pronounced flip than my One
-Hit- sends messengers all over the place, ball just shreds racks, as far as pure power, strongest in my bag
-Core Strength, can handle heavier volumes of oil and some carrydown.
Dislikes-
-Condition specific, probably best suited for THS/walls. Too erractic on fresh, tougher patterns.
-Transition, this isnt necessarily a dislike but the RS-1 lets you know when its time move your feet, 3-6-10's, 6-10's, big 4's a plenty if you dont keep an eye on the way the pins are falling or the way the ball is rolling
-Hit, again, sometimes its like the gift and curse all in one. Major league ringing 10's. Also I kind of get use to messengers going every which way I expect messengers to clear the deck almost everytime.
Conclusion:
Good strong pearl to chase the pattern in or a ball where you need to get it to the "proverbial" spot and have it bend off of it. You need head oil somewhere in the front part of the lane. If I can use this ball comfortably, im putting up telephone numbers. Otherwise I better get my spare ball because if early tests are anything 9/ will be pretty common with this ball due to its flip of the breakpoint. Great ball for strokers and tweeners, may be too early and have too much power in the back for crankers. All in all it fits where I wanted it to. Good ball but by no means is it a Silver Streak Pearl. But thats another discussion for another day.
