Roto Grip's all-new designed Rockstar brings a fresh look to "oiled" lanes for straighter players like me. With the unique design of the NanoStar Solid Reactive coverstock combined with the Rocker + A.I. Core, the Rockstar was built for medium to heavy oil conditions, and with its design, Roto Grip has a #1 hit on its hands. So, let's take a closer look at what makes the Rockstar so good for a straighter player like me!
Let's look at the newly designed Rocker + A.I. Core in two parts: the Rocker Core and the added A.I. Core technology. I found the Rocker has a smooth motion in the mid-lane. I like how the weight block on the bottom brings a crisp and decisive turn when the Rockstar finds friction—further, being a straighter player, I liked how the Rocker Core is smooth and predictable in its motion. When you add the A.I. Core technology around the Rocker, you get an explosive, strong-rolling core that delivers pin-crushing results for straighter players like me. I like the potent impact the Rockstar had at the pins, and the continuation kicked out those single pins straighter players tend to leave because of our lack of rev rate. So, overall, I found the Rocker + A.I. Core delivered!
Simply saying that the NanoStar Solid Reactive coverstock loves oil would not do its results justice. The NanoStar Solid Reactive cover has a strong bite as it cuts through the front part of the lane. Yet, when the Rockstar finds the pines or the middle of the lane, the NanoStar Solid coverstock was silky smooth and provided a predictable transition from the hook to the roll phase. Although the NanoStar Solid is designed like a snow tire in winter, I found the NanoStar Solid to blend from the wet to the dry part of the lane without being over-sensitive to friction. I like how it provided a stable, continuous motion I could count on.
However, the one caveat I would like to add for straighter players is that the Rockstar needs to be in oil or along the shim line to see its best results. Otherwise, with my low rev rate on worn conditions, the Rockstar tended to roll out or run out of gas, not because of its design but because of my more down and in-bowling style. So, I suggest adjusting the Rockstar's surface to fit your game and the conditions you want to use it in, as I found the Rockstar adapts well to surface changes.
In closing, Roto Grip has done a great job designing the all-new Rockstar! The combination of NanoStar Solid reactive coverstock and the Rocker +A.I. Core makes the Rockstar a great new addition to any straighter players' arsenal looking for that medium to heavy oil ball.
