In sports we are always told to hustle well now Roto Grip is providing a ball that will do just that on the lanes. The Roto Grip Hustle 3TP was designed to be different. This ball takes a medium RG/ low differential core and combines it with the VTC-P18 Pearl Reactive coverstock to produce a ball that increases traction while storing energy when facing light oil conditions while still offering a break on the backend.

Color: Purple/Violet/Plum (3-Tone Purple)

Ball Review:
The Hustles will be a great option on those lower to medium volume oil patterns or transitioned lanes where the fronts have gone away.
The Hybrid will be a smoother more controllable reaction than the pearl whereas the latter will provide cleaner/more angular motion downlane.
I did a pin down layout on the hybrid as I would want that as my first go to ball to keep my angles in front of me. Plus the solid within the hybrid allows this additional control.
On the 2 pearls I placed a pin down and pin up on each to see the different shot shapes. With the pin down compared to the hybrid I saw a lot more length and responsiveness downlane than the hybrid. With the pin up pearl compared to the pin down pearl there was definitely a lot more length and angle to that ball.
Wtih each of the 3 new Hustles there will be a step down from each ball - Hybrid to pin down pearl to pin up pearl. Those who were a fan of the previously released Hustles or those looking for a weaker/cleaner piece in their arsenal the newly released Hustles will be a great option to choose from.

The New Hustle 3TP is the cleanest version of this great HP1 line to date. The Pearl VTC-P18 cover gets this ball down-lane cleanly on even the worst lane beds. The difference between the 3TP and the Ink (also a very clean ball) is the more controllable down-lane move and added length.

I drilled the 3TP specifically for a house with high friction lane beds and medium volume. The carry-down is horrendous and the fronts start out hooking and just get worse as you bowl. This new Hustle exceeded all expectations, not only clearing the front but allowing me to stand right and play up the track. The ability to play right on this pattern is crucial as they get more over/under as you go left and your carry suffers for it.

This is a great option for rev-dominant and lower speed players. I can see me recommending this ball to alot of our senior customers as well as two-hand/no thumb players. This ball keeps the right side of the lane in play WAAAY longer than any other performance ball I've ever thrown.

With the release of 3 new Hustle's, 1 hybrid and 2 pearls, I figured a comparison between these and the Hustle INK would be the best way to review them.

The Hustle 3TP is the most skid/flip of any other current Hustle, and once again has packed a lot of performance in a low price point ball. The price point would make a buyer assume it is a light oil piece but if you are looking for that, look towards the Storm Tropical Surge. The Hustle 3TP will be as much on a typical house shot as will will be on lighter oil. If I were using my Hustle-only lineup for a THS league, I could see the 3TP being my game 3 ball more often than not.

The 3TP gets length with ease and gives a nice, quick turn when it hits the friction. I drilled mine to move a touch earlier than my hustle ink, AU, and HSB.

My Hustle-only arsenal was built as follows:

HSB early/strongest/smooth

INK long/strong/smooth

AU long/medium/slightly more angle than above

3TP longest/medium/most angle of the group

I was really excited when the new Hustles where announced! The Hustle Ink has been one of my go to balls on dryer lanes. I drilled up the 3TP and this ball hasn’t disappointed me. I drilled mine with a 3 x 3 layout. Picks up faster in the mid lane and a smooth motion down lane. A great compliment to my Ink and for anyone looking to add a ball to your lineup this is a great choice!

Roto-grip has revamped their Hustle line and it is a nice breath of fresh air. The New Hustle 3TP is one of the two newest Hustle Pearls to be released. The new hustles handle dry lanes better than the older hustles for me. The older hustles still had an amazing strength to be an HP1 line but the VTC-P18 coverstock on the 3TP does not overreact for me when it sees friction.
My traditional pin in the ring layout comes out to be 61x4-3/8x58. This ball allows me to move to around the 16 board and play up the first arrow. If I feed it out further than that it still makes it back to the pocket with ease without jumping through the face.
For me this ball will be better on light oil or short sport shot patters. It needs to see friction to make the turn into the pocket, but it is very predictable in it motion.

I see this ball being great for when the lanes start hooking in the front or when bowling on very worn lane surfaces.

Oh boy more HUSTLES!  I love my Hustle INK and I’m always looking for the next best shape.  Roto Grip changed the cover to a pearl and I love the result.  The Hustle 3TP looks great, but I love the reaction more!  It’s cleaner than the Ink with the same great Hustle motion!  Perfect ball for friction or late in the day transition.

The Hustle 3TP is one of three new low end releases from Roto Grip. The Hustle AU has the same Hustle Core wrapped around the VCT-P18 Pearl coverstock. This will give bowlers a weaker option when tackling very dry house shots or when the lanes break down and players want to stay farther right, especially low rev rate players. When the front part of the lane goes away from the bowlers that have the higher rev rates, straighter players can stay right with this ball giving them a ball that can get through the front part of the lane with ease and still give them plenty of back end from a lower end bowling ball.

In my opinion, I believe that the Hustle 3TP is weaker than the Hustle AU just because of color. Color is very important when it comes to how a ball rolls. You can have the same bowling ball and it be made in two different colors and they will roll different from each other. The 3TP will give you more length and more of a response to friction, causing it to snap more downlane. Either way, both Pearl Hussle’s will be great for straighter players or very dry house conditions that make players get left.

Stats in profile - PBA50 member - 16.5 mph-300 rev rate.
I laid out the Hustle 3TP with a 4" pin to pap and a 30* VAL drilling angle. I left it box finish, then touched it some with a used 2000 abralon pad to change the length downlane.
The 3TP is controllable and let me stay close to the friction both on the outsides of the pattern and also laid off some on shorter patterns. I had a tough time getting the corners out if there was carrydown or the pattern was longer than 38'. This should be good for heavy handed players looking to stay more to the right instead of urethane. Straighter players will want closed down angles to get some motion to improve carry with it.

 The VTC-P18 Pearl Reactive Cover is combined with Hustle Core (one of my all-time favorites).
The Hustle 3TP in my opinion is the perfect compliment to the Hustle Ink.  I love the Hustle Ink, so I was very excited when this ball was announced.  The Hustle 3TP & Hustle AU are the same ball except for the color.  Since my favorite color is purple it was a home run for me.  To me this ball is about an arrow straighter than the Hustle Ink.  This ball allows me to play on the edge of the oil line and the ball doesn’t jump when I hit the dry part of the lane too early like most low end balls do.
The Hustle 3TP is a great Symmetrical ball and a perfect addition to the HP1 line.  The Hustle 3TP is a must have when you need a ball for lanes or patterns that are blown apart from a lot of previous play.

Very happy with the additions to the HP1 line, I believe that this might be the most overlooked series.  When it comes to shooting  high scores most people think you have to spend top dollar to get those results. The hustle line proves that you can get great quality for an even better price.
The Hustle 3TP is super clean through the front part of the lane while still storing enough energy in the backend. I would typically use this on a shot where there might be a lot of friction on the outsides, or even on a house shot that’s starting to burn up after so many games. For me this would be a league ball and would also be great for beginners as well.

The Roto Grip Hustle 3TP, through just a layout change, has a much stronger reaction in the back part of the lane than the Hustle AU did for me. Whereas my AU was drilled pin down, I drilled the 3TP pin up, 35 x 4" x 35, to allow the core to flare as much as possible. As a result, when thrown on broken down house shot conditions, the 3TP has a ton of backend flip. I was quite surprised, actually. I hit the ball with a 4000 pad to smooth out the backend a touch, but I was still able to move quite far left and essentially hook the lane with an entry level price point bowling ball. Of course, this ball is not intended to be used on heavier or fresh lane conditions, but once the lanes break down a bit, it really shines.
