SD-73 Classic
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
The "Classic" is back. Roto Grip is proud to announce the release of the SD-73 "Classic". The ball that created the most controversy ever in the industry is back by popular demand.

The Low RG (2.50), High Differential (.075) weight block is illegal by today''s USBC standards, but since it was approved prior to the rule change it is perfectly legal for all USBC and PBA Regional competition.

The Sure Griptm solid reactive coverstock is a performance proven winner over the last several years and is still one of the highest friction coverstocks on the market today.

Age: 20

Average: 219

Style: 2 Handed/Right

Ball Speed: 21-22 Mph

RPM: 600-650

Layout: 55 x 4" x 45

Shots Thrown On:
Shark
Shark (Modified)
Scorpion
Scorpion (Modified)
Cheetah
Viper
Earl Anthony
2010 Championship Pattern

Had this ball throwing one handed. And recently re-pitched the fingers for my 2 handed layout and kept the thumb the same.

Had this ball drilled up to be smooth through the heads and the midlane, and have a strong snap and arc in the backend.

Out of the box, the cover was a little too strong with the 1000 abralon. would go smoothly down the lane, then once it hit the dry backend. The ball would massively flip and overturn. But still managed to have a pretty strong carry.

For 2 handed, i had to take down the cover to a 3500 abralon finish and polish it. Now polished and ready to go, the SD73 was super smooth through the heads, would straighten up in the midlane, and have a massive arcing motion into the pocket. Now this ball has some carry 2 handed the carry reminds me of the Mutant Cell and the Pearl. Makes the pins go flying everywhere on the deck.

But this ball doesnt like short patterns at all. It does great when theres heavy oil down the lane. But when thrown on shots like the Earl Anthony, this ball just dies. No way to control the snap when the lanes start breaking down.

Anyways, its a Great ball when the lanes call for it Nice ball "Roto-Grip"

Rating: 8.75/10
