This ball is very aggressive and didn't work well with synthetics lane. I used a scotch brite scouring pad on it and man it worked very well on those synthetic lanes. I score a 657 series with it. My average is 174 and still climbing.

Wow, what a ball.  I believe everyone should have the SD-73 in thier bag.  I can throw this ball on oily, medium, and dry lanes and watch the turn in to the pocket time after time.  Carry is no problem nor is hook for the rev challenged or not.  Drilling doesn't matter either.  I like the ball because it doesn't check up, roll out, over hook or under hook, it just does the samething everytime.  Really there is no need for another ball, when you have the SD-73.  Well, maybe there is, more of them in your bag.  Have fun scoring.

BEST BALL EVER MADE.  It plays like it has a built in GPS.  No matter how you throw the ball it will find the pins.  It doesnt matter if it is dry or oily.  They claim this is an oily condition ball.  Dont believe it.  You can use it on anything.  If you miss your mark to the right it will hook more.  If you miss your mark to the left it will hook less.  It also is very durable.  I have had mine for a few years now, and it still performs the same as the day I got it drilled.  Can't say enough good things about this ball.  If you plan on buying only one ball, make this the one.

I've been using this ball since my husband got it for me about 6 months ago.  I had my doubts after reading the specs.  Since I started using this ball my average has gone from 175 to 190.  It hits the pocket from anywhere - HARD!!!  I throw on synthetic lanes - going anywhere from the 4 board to the 15 board with dynamite results.  It hooks consistently right into the sweet spot.  Even if I get lazy - the ball doesn't.  Just bowled a 721 series with it.  Not bad for a woman.  Wouldn't trade this ball for anything.

16 lbs--3.44 top weight---2-2.5 pin---Specs came from box that the ball was shipped in. I bought it used from an ebay seller. Ball had been drilled lefty with less than ten games on it when I got it.
Set up with axis drilling--pin to the right of ring finger(I'm a righty)with CG in line with pin and weight hole in line with that. The Author is my pro shop driller and one of the best I have EVER been to in 30 yrs plus of bowling.
He suggested this drilling as none of my other equipment has this drilling.
 I love this drilling!!!!!!!!!
First set on league shot was 619. Loved the ball reaction I got. Could send it out and it came back and carried. A slight tug will hold the line and carry. When they dry out I move in and try and increase ball speed to compensate.
Carry down will leave me a few flat tens but still make the pocket---will have to work on that----lol.
Too soft on the ball speed will send this through the face (which is my own fault). Again, more practice.
I agree with the other reviews on this ball. It hits very well and carries both light hits and flush hits. The pins almost jump into the pit.
Haven't played on any heavy oil so I can't pass on how it handles this condition.
I would recommend this ball to anyone who can find them.

Another Ebay purchase. My best ball to this date has been the SD-73 Classic, high score 299, series 773.

I bought this ball a couple weeks ago just to say I could try the original SD-73. I rolled about six games on it in practice before using in last Wednesday.

The six games bowled before Wednesday averaged about 230. I am pretty much a stroker, so I appreciate the strong cover and core. I went to the ball in the second game of the Wednesday set after a very disappointing game with another ball in the first. Wound up with a 225 and felt I was really locked in. Started the third with the first eleven! Didn't turn it on the last ball and left a pocket 8 - 10 (which I am somewhat embarassed about), but was happy nonetheless with a 298.

The ball really rolls heavy and actually gets down the lane a little better than I would have thought. Kind of the classic perfect storm for a house shot I could pull it and it would hold, but swing it and it would come back like a banshee. The pin is below the ring finger, but that's about all I know about the drilling. Overall, very happy, glad to throw the original. Will post updates if it keeps working.
