Show Off
« on: July 18, 2017, 04:12:45 PM »
With the Show Off bowling ball Roto Grip set out to create a "step down" ball when the lane conditions breakdown that would provide length with down lane motion. They did this by taking the Hotshot core and wrapping it in the aggressive Micro DNA Solid Reactive coverstock and finishing it with a 2000 grip pad. Go ahead and show off a little with the Roto Grip Show Off bowling ball.

Color: Blue/Purple/Neon Green
Coverstock: Micro DNA Solid Reactive
Core: Hotshot
Finish: 2000-grit pad
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil
RG: 2.55**
Differential: 0.045**
** RG and Diff are based off of 15 lb. balls

The Show Off is the newest solid cover ball in the Roto Grip HP2 line. It has the Hotshot core with a 2.55 RG value, a .045 Diff and the Micro DNA solid coverstock. So it has a core that should respond quicker than average to friction and a fairly aggressive coverstock.

I drilled mine 4.25” from my axis with a 2.5” pin buffer and low p3 hole. Hoping this would be my go to on medium volume, medium length patterns. This ball for me rolls like a strong benchmark ball. It is smooth and predicable on the back and is not too clean on the fresh. I am surprised with how much hook the Show Off has for it’s price point.

I found the cover to be pretty strong, so unless you are speed-dominant, it probably will not find its way to the lane for light oil. But when the Dare Devil Trick or No Rules Exist are too early, this ball is PERFECT.

The Roto Grip Show Off has the original No Rules cover with a new core designed for length and down lane motion. I think that this is quite an interesting combination with the potential to possibly be the strongest ball ever made at this price point.  Historically, I have absolutely loved the HP2 line, but there is nothing about this ball’s motion in the midlane and back part of the lane that says HP2 line. On a fresh 43 foot typical house pattern it is definitely straighter than my No Rules Exist, but as the lanes break down and angles get a little too extreme for my Exist to maintain optimal entry angle, this ball shines. My Show Off’s layout is 3.75 x 5.75 x 1.875 and is still at box (2000).

The Roto Grip Showoff was much stronger than expected for an HP2 line ball. Its a perfect benchmark ball for anyone regular league bowler. I was really impressed with the way the ball read the front part of the lane and then with the motion and energy it stored on the backend. Its strong enough that on heavier oil patterns you can square up and get it to the pocket but also smooth enough that on dryer conditions you can move in and go around it and it doesn't roll out. If your looking for a smooth with aggressive back end motion ball this is the perfect fit.

I am a left handed and a Storm/Roto Grip Regional Staffer. I throw the ball around 15-17mph.  The first Show Off I drilled I put the pin above the Ring Finger and the CG is stacked.  The surface I kept the same as out of the box which is 2000 grit.  The Show Off has the Original No Rules Cover with a new Hotshot Core which is designed for Length and Back End Reaction.  I will tell you that this ball is special and is more bang for the buck.  If you want a ball that is strong and you don't want to spend $200.00, then this ball is all that you need.  This ball is great on THS, and Medium to Heavy oil pattern.  Roto Grip has mastered this line as more ball for the price you are paying. The HP2 line has produced a lot of Fantastic balls and The Show Off is another one.  I compare the Show Off with the Haywire and the Show off is cleaner in the Midlane and more Back end then the Haywire.  The first game I threw the Show Off was a 300.  The Show Off to me is a really strong ball that I can use on multiple lane patterns and I can manipulate my hand position with this ball when the lane changes and I can still use this ball.  This ball is a must for anyone and it does not matter how you throw the ball. So get to your Local Pro shop and purchase a Show Off. You will not be disappointed. #showoff #ownit
