That's because it's half solid. Most combos will read the midlane better than an equivalent pearl, which tend to be more flippy for better carry power. Of course, a stronger pearl, with maybe an asymetric core, like an Anarchy or an Infinite Theory can also read the midlane better due to the power of the cover & the core.
A stronger drilling or a light scuffing of the Victory Pearl will make it more even and give it a better read of the midlane.
I doubt if the Bandit will offer more control than the THH.
If you want to play more down and in, a polished milder solid or a milder solid with a finer surface (P4000 grit) may be a better choice, like the Riot or the slightly stronger 2Furious.
