Question about the Bandit
« on: September 10, 2011, 04:15:11 AM »
I was thinking about my arsenal and was debating where the Bandit may fit.  Currently, I throw a VG Nano, Anarchy, Nomad Dagger and Rising Star.  Initially I was thinking it may go between the Anarchy and Dagger, but was not exactly sure.

Background: Speed is between 19-22mph, approximately 400-450 revs.  VG Nano is drilled 4x4x2 with P1 hole, Anarchy is 4x4x2 with no hole, Dagger is drilled with Storm's #2 layout, and the Rising Star with a modified Storm #1 layout which moves the pin above the ring finger.  The big reason that I wanted to potentially go with a 5th ball is that sometimes there can be a big step down between the Anarchy and the Dagger, especially with some fresher conditions.

One of the other suggestions that was brought up was the Marvel, but wasn't even sure how that compares to the Bandit.  Any help is appreciated.

Also interested in hearing how the Bandit compares.  According to BTM, I think the Bandit is replacing the Nomad Dagger, so I would think it's pretty close to that piece, although it's a pearl instead of a hybrid.

The Dagger is still in the line up so I think the Bandit is not intended to replace it. From what I have seen it is stronger than the Dagger by a good couple of boards but will be a little more of an angular motion a little farther down the lane.

Bandit is weaker than the ND but not by a whole lot. It is a decent bit stronger than the Rising Star. You could consider a Marvel Pearl to fill the gap you are looking to fill, or perhaps an aggressively drilled Frantic.

I threw a Dagger, Bandit and Marvel Pearl while at Storm U a couple weekends ago. I threw the Dagger, Bandit and Marvel Pearl on 40' and a 37-38' challenge shot. The Bandit was skip/snap and not as smooth as the Dagger. The Bandit was probably 2-3 boards less overall but more on the backend compared to the Dagger. I'd say the closet thing recently I've thrown to the Bandit is probably the pearl Reign but the reaction shape is still different from a pearl Reign. The shape of the Bandit is what I remember getting out of a Columbia Detour I had years ago.

Marvel Pearl was definitely the strongest of those three. It reads earlier and is more controllable and rolly. But don't think that means it can't recover on the back because it does. Reaction wise it's close to an Agent but just stronger overall. Besides throwing it on the challenge shots I threw the MP on 35', 39' and 43' sport shots. It was the only ball I threw, including my own, that I had a look with on all 3 patterns. I'd think it would fit between the Anarchy and Dagger just fine.

I punched up a Marvel Pearl once I got home and haven't regretted it at all. It's strong but also versatile.
