Saturn...First Impressions
« on: April 04, 2006, 08:07:16 AM »
Finally got my Saturn yesterday.  Took awhile as it's so popular many distributors had little stock.

Started with 15.4 lb. 3.14 oz. TW and 3 3/4" pin.  Put pin slightly right and above ring 4 3/4" and CG 4" from my PAP.  I am 4 7/8" over and 0.  A 60 deg. layout.  Drilled X hole 1" below my PAP on VAL 3/4" dia. 2" deep.  Left it at 1/2 oz. positive. Took OOB finish to 1200 shiny.  Storm Step #2.

League last night used Magic Carpet installed round end down for quick release and 3/4" grip tape in front of hole.  Great fit.

Practice I could tell I had a great look on a THS older Bruns. 1st generation Anvilane.  First eight and missed 2-4-5 chopped 2-4 off the 5.  Didn't allow for enough room to the right as carry down effected roll....went to direct.  Struck out for 260 something.  Go thru the beak big spilt 1st ball in 2nd game move left 2 boards and hit the next 6...open in there and 225 didn't keep up with transition well.  Last game 266.  756 series with 12 practice shots.  Not bad for a great ball from RG out of the box.

This ball should be the go to ball for all house bowlers that roll on basic mediums.  Reasonable price with great hit.  Easy to read.

The way I see it the Roto Grip Saturn and Ebonite's The One are the balls of the year.  JMO.

Also have a Mercury punched up with a lil more kick to it.  Haven't found a dry enough condition to use it much but with warmer temps. on the way.  I will.

RG I'm sold.  Glad I made the move to RG and gave up on another mfg.

Thanks to RotoDave and Steve Richter.
