All Out Show Off Review AND Opinion
« on: November 15, 2017, 07:10:59 AM »
This ball likely won't get the attention it deserves . . hopefully it will, but maybe these will help.  This ball is the Frantic reincarnated.

Opinion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0LOyHXrMMI

Will have Danger videos up later today . . not as impressed with it, it's not a bad ball, just not what you think of when you think Dare Devil, it's basically a remake of the Hywire.

Now that you mention this, the core does seem simular to the NOS core

Great videos Luke!

So I have to say, I've been waiting to hear your thoughts on the Danger. Reason why, after watching the FB videos of Schlem at WSOB, it seemed like the All Out was getting a lot more love than the Danger in both use and vocally.

I thought I was set on the DDD for filling a spot in my line-up, but maybe the All Out will do it for less money :)

I also wonder how close Stoked Hybrid is to Reactor Hybrid and R2S Hybrid.

Lol that's probably because the All Out is a lot better ball, but shhh, don't let anyone tell you I said that, because you know, staffer bias.  I'm probably supposed to be more like bambam.

hi luke. i just finished watching your review of the dare devil danger and the all out show off. if you were laying both out to complement each other would the all out show off be better suited for an arcing benchmark type reaction while the ddd be the better ball when playing inside? thanks!

your video really threw me off because i though that the newer releases would be similar to their predecessors.

I was considering the dare devil danger my friend, he has a Rhino right now & needs a "pro" ball for when we get a little bit of oil. This place has a shorter house pattern that gets chewed up before we even start in our 6 person league. I think the Solid Trick would be too much & I know that I have trouble using my Radical Ridiculous Pearl because i either hit dry middle or carrydown to the right. I was hoping the hybrid version would give the best of both worlds. I'd like to have something that can handle a fair amount of oil but also kinda take some dry. Really dry he'll use the rhino for.
After watching both reviews I'm leaning towards recommending the  all out show off now instead though. We want a similar amount of Hook as the storm sky rocket but less angular so would you agree with all out show off instead of dare devil danger?

I'm not Luke by any means, but I definitely think the AOSS would fit better than the DDD. Usually balls in the HP2/Hot/Thunder can handle a bit of dry (doesn't stand up on friction) without being squirty (especially when at the right surface). The All Out fits the bill as a jack of all trades piece.

Luke, I have the Intense -- C/R ---- do you think the All Out would be a good fit under these? I am thinking it would, or is there a better option?

Exactly right.  I bowled 4 sets in Tulsa over the weekend and used nothing but the All Out and Danger the whole tournament.  Started sets with the All Out, finished them with the Danger, and you described them perfectly.  They're very different from their predecessors, but I'm over it lol, they act how they act, and in bowling, one thing that gets people into trouble is acting on what something is supposed to be rather than what it actually is.

Yeah, not near as much hook, same general shape as the Intense.

I think you could treat it like the Trick actually.  The Danger is a little tricky to the eyes, it looks like it's revving really strong, and it's sharp on friction . . but it's not.  It's just stupidly clean, but still having the lower differential of that core makes it smoother than it looks like it's being.  Once I started trusting it, it came to life and I can't put it down now.  That still does NOT change my rating for it, that's what I like best about my rating system is that it's truly impartial, because I DO have a much different opinion on the ball now than I did when making my video, which I will cover in an additional opinion video after I get the first one finally done, but it's still not for every one, it's still not for every condition.  My rating doesn't change, but my feelings have.

My biggest mistake was expecting a Dare Devil, and it's absolutely not a Dare Devil.  It's a Hywire that's not as springy off friction.  It's like the core and cover fight against each other, but damn it's good when the lanes get destroyed and you have to get deep.  I don't like it on fresh because it's too jerky and it gives you angle issues, but when you have a ton of friction and can get inside and just fling it right, the lower differential allows you to play closer to the pocket without early hook from deep, and how strong it is on friction will get it back if you get it a little right, but the lanes need to be pretty well destroyed before this thing comes to life, IN MY EXPERIENCE.  With some different cover prep it could be viable on the fresh, but that's where the All Out slots really nicely.

The Danger is absolutely not a Dare Devil in the least, but I can't think of a better compliment for the other two.  The three Dare Devils may be the most complete line of three same named balls out there.

I bought the Danger and get it tommorow based on the your pre assement video in which I thinking the same thoughts as you. My PSO suggested that I consider the OG version but I wanted a hybrid.

Well rather than think the worst or get bummed out I’ll move forward with my plan and give it a spin.

I do have other thoughts for consideration however, some dumb questions and I’m looking for opinions fro anybody that wants to chime in.

Should I treat it as a Dare Devil like my Trick and just move my layout right about 1/2” and use the coverstock to change the shape I’m looking
for. My PSO likes this plan.

Or treat it like a Hywire and come up with a new plan and purpose. Ive never had a Hywire so i would have to do research. Not sure if that’s what I want.

Last; trade it for the OG version, Or the other ball that in the video?
