Any Rotos here Have the spare tire
« on: December 27, 2006, 08:18:23 AM »
OK i just got my spare tire drilled yesterday, and i will say that it is one of the coolest balls i have ever seen. But here is one thing i noticed about it after using it last night and want to see if anyone else who owns one is having the same problem, or anyone with a clear ball. When i got home i cleaned it to see what it had underneath and what i saw was track marks, it showed every single part of my track, like i had been rolling it for a year. I tried to get it off but i couldn't. I don't know if I have a lemon or that is just what happens with clear balls. And, if so, is there any way to get rid of it on a plastic such as resurfacing overtime or anything. Any comments would help. Thanks

Clear balls seem, IMO, to track much easier than regular polyester balls. Depending on what lane surface you bowl on, wood or synthetic, will also depend how fast it tracks. Ive had to resurface a few clear balls that were well tracked only 2 months after they were drilled, and they were used on both syntheitc and wood. If you take it to the pro shop and ask them to clean it up with a mild resurface it should look good. Id figure an abralon resurface of 180-360-500-1000-2000 and polish should do the trick well.

Just keep on polishing. Whenever you r done using it...just keep hitting it with some heavy polish. I found that Moonshine works well for this ball.

I have one of the first "spare tire" balls and the only thing I do is put it in our ball polishing machine (lucky I've got the key) about every 3-4 weeks for 5 minutes and it gets right back to new finish. Having a pro shop and seeing all the different polys out I don't think the spare tire is any softer than the other polys but shows more just because it's clear.

hey thanks alot fellas, i just recently got a spinner so i will just keep polishing it every few weeks. I thought that might work, but i wanted some insight from fellow clear plastic ball users.
