Any suggestions on a Rush compliment?
« on: May 21, 2006, 03:42:24 PM »
Do any of you kingdom members have a suggestion on a healthy compliment to the Rush?  Mine is set up with a lower R.G. drill with a high gloss polish but I have yet to throw it.  It's being plugged as we speak.  I am going to keep the same drill but I was wondering what would be a suitable compliment to the Rush.  What I mean is something that will provide about the same overall amount of hook, just later down the lane when the Rush wants to burn up early.

BTW, how aggressive is the Silver Streak SE and can it handle any type of carrydown?

DP3, I have a SSSE pin under middle, with no hole, and I can say it is pretty strong.  Surface is at 1000 abralon, but it still gets down the lane pretty well, and makes a healthy move once it gets there.  I would say a 4 1/2" drill with the pin up and some surface would be plenty ball for carrydown conditions.

SSSE is a good ball, definitely.  Pics of mine are in my profile, surface is box.

Very smooth through the heads, really powerful move off the spot and makes the pins mincemeat.  With the box finish, carrydown is a bit of an issue (not severely, though...when the heads were burnt and the backends got a bit wet, I switched from my Epic Battle to the SSSE and it worked well).  Dulling the cover a bit, to probably what Traumatize has his at (1000 abralon) or even a small change like 1200 would make the move off the spot about 2 feet earlier and a bit smoother.

It is a powerful ball though...makes those pins bounce.

Oddly enough, another good ball to think for this kind of reaction is a dulled up RS-1 (pics of mine in profile).  It's drilled to skid/snap, and that's exactly what it does.  However, I bought it used from my ball driller, and he'd resurfaced it (looks/feels about 1000 abralon), so that massive skid/snap is gone and in it's place is an earlier move that makes carrydown a joke.

DP,
I didn't like the Rush with anything on it but 6 or 800 smooth!!  That being said....I'd lean towards a SSSSE or an RS1 or Horizon to compliment it.....IF you change the surface to something smooth on the Rush
