Nomad Pearl layout help
« on: June 15, 2010, 12:38:39 AM »
I''''m having trouble deciding on a layout for my Nomad Pearl so I thought I''''d ask you guys for help. Just as a starter my stats are 215avg RH, ~300-350 rpm, 17-18MPH, PAP is 5 > 7/8 ^. I tend to favor strong arcs over skid/flip reactions.

I''''m looking for push downlane through fried heads if necessary, but with backend recovery to get through carrydown in leagues or from a deep inside line in tournaments. I have had success before with a RICO''''d Cell Pearl, but I found the lower pin position had a tenancy to start the ball turning the corner too early for my liking on the burn.

My current arsenal is:
Pin Down 4x3 RoF
Pin Down 5x4 Hy-Road
Pin Up 5x6 Nomad Solid
Pin Up 5x5 Natural

So I''''d like the Nomad Pearl to fit in between the Nomad and the Natural.

Similar idea here: 5x5 or 5x4, with the pin above the fingers for some extra push down the lane.

I would do a 5x5 or even a 5.5x5 but pin down.  Yes, pin downs do tend to react to friction sooner, but slower and smoother than pin ups imo.  You could scuff the surface some to bleed off some energy in the heads and mids too.

Being a medium tracker I would do a 85x3x25. this would give you a later break point and get you the necessary length to get through the heads.

I agree with Xcessive Evil...

I''d set it up 5x4 pin down. Since it''s a pearl, you should be able to adjust the surface with abralon pads to get clean thru the heads and track area, sucessfully.

Knowing how strong that core is, once you go pin up, it tends to change the ball''s reaction to a skid-flippy one.

P.S. upon further review, I threw this ball last nite, and that core is so doggone strong, you have to go pin-down with this ball! The one I threw had the pin drilled out of the ring finger and it went clean thru the heads, fairly long, but a distinct hard turn on the back. It was a simple label layout.
