A full roller tracks between the fingers and thumb hole. A "normal" semi roller tracks more or less parallel to the fingers and thumb. There's nothing inherently wrong with being a full roller, but it's almost never taught today. It's a less versatile release and gives you less drilling options. There was a high rev full roller that won one of the big eliminator tournaments a few years ago, so anything you do well can be successful.
