I have thrown a few Rotos, and by far my favorite so far has been the Assualt. Good length for a solid particle, tremendous HIT. What I liked most about this ball for that time was that the coverstock was easily shined if that was the desired thing to do to it.

The Silver Streak Solid is a decent benchmark ball, and I have two of them that are usually in the truck.  Lately, though, I have resumed using the Pearl Assault as the first ball out of the bag and taking a lot of hand out of the shot...before I went to that approach, I had been using an old Roto RH most of the time in league this season.

On edit, I realize that Roger would probably rather I say something in the way of the newer introductions.  However, I don't buy my equipment looking for a "best all-around ball."  Some of the newer stuff will eventually find its way to the house and into the truck, but for now, the older stuff works  Most here know that Roto is all that I have thrown for more than a year now, and so I have most of what was offered up through the Sonic X...and when I hit a given condition, I want the best ball for that allows me to match up on that condition.  House shots are an altogether different critter, and even plastic will let me get to the pocket...it has only been since the 1st that I tried to put any emphasis on scores, which is what led to the release change and move to the polished Pearl Assault (yeah, I followed through on that resolution).

If zhen is looking to try Roto Grip, then it would be more helpful if we know what condition he is looking to conquer...

I have not used but seen a lot.

For powerful middle of the road(medium oil performance) I don't think there is much better than the Silver Streak.  Right in the explosive demolition zone category.

For smooth predictable performance on medium to medium heavy oil the Fuel.
For more backend on a similar condition and a little more length the Pure fuel!

REgards,

I've seen people have great performance with all 3 of the above balls.
On heavier oil have a friend that has a couple of 800s with the Silver Streak Particle.

First of all, Silver Streak Solid is by far the most versatile ball in the line-up!  It can cover medium lights from deep, and medium heavies (some) from down and in!

It's by far the best ball to start with if youv'e never thrown a Roto!  Also, the entire Streak line is BY FAR the best bang for the buck for performance on the market IMHO.

Fuel: Fresh mediums thru heavy! The Fuel can be a nice heavy ball as well w/ proper coverstock prep..........great for carrydown situations too
Pure Fuel: Medium lights and mediums! and yes, more length and backend.....

I'm a big fan of the original SD-73, with the Sonic X Pearl a close second.

With these two balls I can cover all the conditions I face.

For me the Sonic X pearl. Haven't tried the solid but no need have others for that. The Silver Streak solid is nice had a lot of frustration with it at first but after noting release changes it has been darn good. The Streak particle is just one that does not match up for me but will keep it for some Sport shot tourneys where you need less backend.

Price and performance wise the Sonic Line is tight.
