ball maintenance??
« on: October 22, 2007, 10:58:04 AM »
How do i clean a particle ball without changing the reaction. i dont want to lose power due to poor ball maintenance.
with my Reactives, i use ball cleaner and polish, but with my battle, it is OOB condition and i love it, but i know that Particle balls are more sensative...for the most part.
Oh, and i must say, that the Battle is the First Particle ball that i have had any luck with....as far as ball reaction goes.  It hits hard and carrys the world.  so i want to keep it in good shape.
thanks in advance

Whether they're reactives or not, you shouldn't use polish as part of the cleaning regimen, unless the polish on the ball has worn down. If you use polish, you're actually constantly changing the finish.

Any good cleaner will take the oil off the ball after you've finished bowling. You can use a deep cleaner such as Clean and Dull every 3 - 10 sessions, depending on how dull the ball is and on how much oil you bowl.  Clean and Dull is not abrasive and will NOT change the surface of your ball. It can be used on any ball, polished or dull, resin or particle.

Some people use a nylon pad that is at the same abrasive level as their ball's surface to help apply the cleaner. This is nice, sometimes helpful, but not always necessary.

There are many good bowling-ball specific cleaners on the market. SOme of them are
- Legends cleaner
- Brunswick's Remove-All
- Track's Power Wash
- Neo-Tac's Liquid Nitro
- Ultimate's Black Magic Rejuvenator

Such cleaners can and should be used immediately after bowling and BEFORE putting your ball back in the bag. No cleaner specific to particle ball is needed. These will do a more than adequate job. Clean and Dull (or Clean and Tacky) are THE deep cleaners, great for deep cleaning every 3 - 10 sessions, as stated above.
