Odyssey and neptune on their way...layouts?
« on: May 05, 2007, 04:57:27 PM »
Thanks to tekneek!

Here is what im looking to do

I am revamping my Everyday Bag O' Tricks....out with the old in with the new as they say...only thing staying is my Black Widow

So here is what im looking at

NIB Odyssey for Heavy Oil (Heavy Blended house shots and PBA SHARK)

NIB Special Agent Medium Heavy (THS and PBA Scorpion)

Black Widow drilled 5 x 4 MB (I can use this ball on about anything but it is losing some of its UMPH!  I may polish it and get it over with...)

There is a gap here i will eventually fill...

NIB Neptune (Straighter on a THS and Cheetah depending on lane surface...)

So any advice for layouts on the NIB balls?

The only one i am somewhat set on is a 4 x 4.5 for the special agent...i want that to be my go to ball on a THS and that layout usually works well for me...plus i want some seperation between this ball and the WIDOW

Stats in Profile...and i will be putting together a comparison video for all to see when all is said and done!  Thanks in advance guys...

and for those who havent seen my game yet...videos are on my website!

THANKS!

I have a Neptune drilled 4x4, pin down. On dry, it rolls very controllable and doesn't jump as much as expected when it hits a dry spot. On a medium shot, it allows me to play straight up the ditch, opening a new line for me. Fairly versatile for what it is with this drill pattern...oh, and I'm a cranker that throws about 18mph...if that helps...

Id do a variation of a label drill on the Neptune. CG near palm with the pin around 2. We have drilled MANY like this and the ball just flat out works.

Sounds like the neptune is quite a Gem!

I think i will go with a 4 x 4 on it and see how it goes...i always fall into the trap of drilling weak balls weak and i never get to use them...i don't see true dry around here...i could see myself liking this ball!

As far as the odyssey goes i may go 3-3/4 x 4-5 MB...i want that to be my true heavy stuff ball any thoughts on that Mark?

Thanks Again!

One other thing you might want to play around with is the surface. I know mine out of the box was a little squirty down the lane. It would slide an extra foot if it found any amount of oil on the backend but after I knocked the polish off it had no problem and was exactly what I was looking for. BTW mine is drilled 5x3 and has the smoothest breakpoint of all my balls.
