I'm pretty excited about this upcoming announcement, but I can't say anything yet. Roto Grip is going to be signing a new PBA exempt player early next week. This guy is a great bowler, great person, and soon to be the face of Roto Grip.
Who could it be?

Hmm I have no idea who it is but thats awesome to hear that someone is coming aboard.
Good luck Roger, and keep pumping out the awesome equipment, the cell is amazing and i'm really pondering an Illusion to go below it if I can't land a saga.

Changed my mind. I think it has to be Scroggins. And I'm fine with that.

Parker "Big B" Bohn??? I saw a show from (I think) 1986 when he was practically a rookie, he was throwing an Ebonite ball. Basically since then, he's thrown Brunswick exclusively. I can't think of any other bowlers who have been signed with a single company for so long.

Judging by Rog creating a post purely for speculation I'm going to guess not a usual suspect...I'd hope PDW (keeping the same rep) or as an outside chance I'd really love to see TJ.

"the new face of rotogrip" for the love of god, let's hope it's not scroggins, that face was meant for radio.
-
Walter is a free agent right?
I'd be so conflicted.

If there is a way Roto could land Walter I would possibly break my computer in excitement. Also, Roger you really seem to enjoy teasing us don't you? Next you will be hinting at next year's balls. This is cruel but I love it at the same time...

The phrase "signing a new PBA exempt player" could mean a new to Roto, new to the PBA. How enigmatic, I like it! My guess is someone out of the blue: PBIII would be insane, but I doubt it. Tony Reyes? Robert Smith? Doug Kent?

i'm gunna go out on a limb and say patrick healy jr.... just coming off of a deferment could be good things......
couch is still on ebonite staff so i highly doubt it was him ( would be nice to see him with something other than ebonite)

Knowing that Roto and Storm are "close" from an industry perspective, is it possible that Jeff Carter is moving over to Roto?!

Why come on and post this if you "can't say anything". Waste of time. Try again when you are able to actually announce something.

LMAO!
Although, incorrect... everone knows that Chuck Norris does not even need a bowling ball to get a strike, he simply roundhouses at the fouline and the shockwave knocks all the pins over

Nappycutts - I can say it, but I prefer the excitement of seeing who people think we might be signing. The guesses are interesting...and I like keeping people close to the Roto Forum anyway!

By the way...it's the Big Nasty Wes Malott!
Rhino Page officially signed with Storm last week.

Very good addition to the Rotogrip staff, just can't wait to see the "Big Nasty" throwing next year! Seeing all the great comments on the cell I am looking to add to my arsenal. Way to go Roto!
-
I wonder why he's leaving Columbia, probably to throw the cell.
-
Wow! That's huge and I'm glad to see him going to use R/G and the Cell! I want R/G to make a remake of the RS-X, even though I can't stop using the Odyssey! Just my $.02, Bruce

As a former Track guy who is now a Roto guy, this makes me happy. Dear God, what is this man gonna do with a Cell and especially an Illusion!! Just completed my Roto arsenal, Odyssey, Cell, Mystic and Saga and they're all terrific!
-
Roger is signing me. Oh wait I'm not exempt. (pinch, wakeup) I hoped Robert Smith, love watching him through lines no one else can. Big Nasty is great though. Roger you can still sign me if you want I'm cheap.

Maybe he will throw a Quest what do you think of that Roger???
-
I am pleased to see that R/G has a great addition to show off their equipment!
In the videos that he did for the new columbia equipment, he looked as though he was going through the motions. I'm sure that it wasn't a hard decision for him to make.
-
it may also be someone out of the reginals i would really like to see someone like Couch or Rash come out and sign with Roto but i doubt it i dont see TJ sighning eather him and couch are the face of ebonite and they will over pay them to throw there stuff.
-
THAT IS AWESOME! I can't wait to the The Big Nasty tearin' it up with Roto-Grip. This will be a treat!
Nice addition!

If I made a guess as to why he signed. I would say it is one of three things if not all three. One roto makes good equipment, I had some stuff from roto that I really like. Two I would say he made the switch because roto offers a great blend of strong Asymetrical and symetrical equipment. With columbia only having symetrical I could see that as a down side. Third, he makes shows like they are nothing. He went from a year where he was on like everyother show (06-07) with Track (kind of the face of track that year). To another good season (07-08) but no longer the face of the company he is using.
All in all I hope he still does well, and hey this just gives me a reason to pull out my epic Saga and have some fun.

Wes will keep up the great bowling for sure. He is a great bowler and he will have the best equipment on the market in his hands. I can't wait for next season to see him crushing with some roto.

This may seem unimportant, but one thing I had heard during the season is that Big Wes was searching for Super Troopers, and without much luck. Columbia didn't seem to have what he wanted anymore, whereas Roto-Grip certainly does, with the Pluto (as well as the other planets). I would be willing to bet that you will be seeing Wes throwing one of the planets on tour for right side spares or on the burn.
-
I heard the new Columbia contracts stated that they could only throw balls made from the Kentucky plant. No old stuff from San Antonio.
