Big Wes...
« on: May 06, 2008, 08:59:47 AM »
Saw on pba website big Wes is signing with Roto.  I'm shocked to be honest, he's been throwing C300 stuff for a long time.  Its a great pick up, he's an unbelievable talent

He wasn't lost by C300. Roto earned this. With the Cell they have solidified themselves as the cutting edge company. It is only right that they get a big name bowler.

Wes knows enough about layouts and balls and just bowling in general to where I think he could make any company work for him. I don't have any objections to this switch. The only thing that I don't like is that he might not be at the Dream Camp now since the camp is run by Ebonite

I'm not that surprised. He's been with a different company in each of the past couple of years. 06-07 was Track, 07-08 was Columbia, and now 08-09 will be Roto. Good move by Roto too by the way. I think Wes' game might match up even better with roto than it did with columbia. If it does, Roto will sell many more balls than they ever did before because he'll make the show every week.

should be interesting to  see how he performes with the roto gear
and also to see if roto does like some of the other brands have done and make a ball aimed at the power type player since it seems that roto stuff seems to be real smooth

abrown,

Unless your release makes things "real smooth", the Mystic and the Illusion are among the flippiest balls made, as was the Saga, the RS-1 and the Silver STreak Pearl.

Darn, Did somebody just wake up, Roger said last Friday that Wes was signed by R/G! lol I'd like to see him with an Odyssey! Talking about a big move on the backend, especially with his hand. Congrats to R/G on a Big move, Bruce

Hmmmm? The Cell, Quest, SD-73, Horizon, Saturn, Pluto are very smooth; Neptune and Venus are fairly smooth. The Odyssey, Illusion, Mystic are on the flippier side. Ok, "mostly" works for me.
(I keep forgetting about balls I can never use: SD-73, Quest.)

I have to agree.  He can make anything look good.  When a few of them made Track look terrible on TV (Scroggins for sure), Wes was winning with them.  He made the Power Machine look tremendous.  It will be interesting to see some Roto on TV more often.

Nasty comments on Scroggins I just believe he had release issues with the Track balls.  Never seemed to be getting out of them correctly from the thumb!
Why I have no idea!

RE Roto and Wes....I have not seen him use anything but pearlier stuff!
Does Roto have any of this in a strong core which he seems to always be using???

Did you watch him bowl last year at all....the Resurgance and Rival are not pearl balls, and he threw those a lot. Only pearl ball was the Wrath HF and Wrath DF.

Resurgance is not pearl, neither is rival?  I don't see many(any) in our area but they sure looked like pearls to me from a distance on TV.

Solids?  Highly polished?
