I hear the mystic is pretty mellow so if that is what you need then go for it, i rough buffed my odyssey and now it even shiny it hooks a ton. It gained backend like you would think and lost alittle of the over flippy backend motion which i think it is better for me.

Roto has, in my honest opinion, the widest selection of stuff out there right now, and all of it is excellent.  If you look at, say, Ebonite or Hammer, they have tons of stuff that does pretty well on medium-heavy conditions -- i.e. Angular One, Black Widow, Total NV, Toxic, Pain, The One, etc.  Roto, on the other hand, has your whole arsenal covered, and everything has its own little niche.  Every piece has a spot, and functions in that spot.  You just can't go wrong with a Roto.

Don't forget the Saturn and the Venus too...or the Battle...or the Odyssey...or your good ole' SureDee Seventy Three Classic...

The Mystic is NOT a mellow ball by any means.  It's possible that the reaction is tamed because of the factory finish.  But knock that off and you have and very strong ball with almost as much hook as the higher end pieces.  Although I didn't bowl too well, mine actually gave me a better look on a PBA pattern this past weekend than both the Odyssey and SD-73.  The particle pearl at 2000grit gave me enough slow down in the front part to control the backend.
