Mercury vs Sonic X Pearl
« on: October 24, 2005, 02:59:49 AM »
Can anyone who's thrown both give me a comparison? I absolutely LOVED my SXP and was interested in the Mercury. My SXP was my go to ball on lighter mediums and when the lanes started to get tricky. It evened out a lot of weird conditions for me. I'm seeing reviews were people are stating that they are moving way right with it. Is it that much weaker than the SXP?

Thank you for any feedback.

from what I understand......the Mercury will cover the same range of patterns but w/ a slightly smoother overall reaction......

best I can guess

Yeah it doesn't look as pearly and has a slightly higher flare core.

I've seen same.

Looks more like Sonic X solid with a little more skid and a little more total hook.

Smooth.

Nope.......

It's earlier....and smoother than the original Sonic...but covers more boards...it's strangely smooth but still kind of strong!!

Our anchor has one ...just saw it last night....very nice !!! Oh and BTW..he's got a TON of hand too!

Thanks Jeff for the update. My lanes are getting drier by the week. I'm getting close to punching one up.

Let me add one thing, the Mercury has the newer coverstock unlike the Sonic, fot todays lane oil.

Hmmmm? Are you sure ?  Says Sure Grip II which has been the Sonics cover for quite some time.....

Guys,

The changes we made in 2005 to our coverstocks were only to our mid and high performance balls.  The Entry Level line is still utilizing the sure grip II reactive coverstocks we have been using for the past 3 years.

If it isn't broke, don't fit it!

Thank you.
