I've received a few PMs asking me about this layout on my Odyssey.  It's nothing but what others call the Tommy Jones "trick" layout.   The pin is 1 1/2" above the  VAL with the MB at 45*.  In this case the pin is also 5" from my axis.  RotoMat suggested it after I mentioned I had issues matching up to the Maximus core.   Here's a quick pick of the layout:

Now the odd thing is that this ball rolls really different.  My axis is 5 3/8" straight across which means my track is equidistant from both holes.  As you can see from the pic, the weighthole is on the VAL but up about 1.5 to 2".  This is actually my axis on this ball!  The track is further away from the fingers and closer to the thumb.

The roll is also different but nice.  For me, it makes a nice arcy flip and then almost a forward roll.  Much easier to control but I get a lot of hook out of it.  It's not as flippy as if the pin was right above the fingers.  Mark Curran and I talked about the MB possibly having a different path than normal (which would explain the track difference) and why this ball reacts differently.  I really don't know but it seems to matchup well to higher rev players.  A neat experiment, one which I wish I had the time for, would be to drill 2 identically but one with the pin 3-4" above the VAL and compare.

Yeah I drilled a Horizon with a the pin in the same area its 5" from PAP and 5.5" over my mid line and 2" from my VAL. The ball dose flare funny the rings are like 1/2" apart and the bottom bow tie is next to my thumb hole, but it rolls great had it for two weeks and its the only ball I've use. Am sad to report I did shoot under 230 with it last night for the first time. Really did not Plan on it rolling so well.

Thats a type. He means to say 1 1/2 inch FROM his VAL.

It's definitely not inverting.  DP3 watched me throw some shots with it tonight (along with the Neptune the last game).  He has a Saga that I originally tried this on but with a 80* MB and it does the same.

when listening to Ron Hickland explain this layout on the Ebonite website I really couldn't gather what type of reaction he was stating this layout would provide. Can someone give me an idea for what kind of ball reaction this would give, and maybe what type of cover (pearl, solid, particle) it would probably be best used on.  Thanks
