Title: Cell

I have been looking for a ball to cover med heavy to heavy oil and had been looking at possibly a T-Road Solid or Attitude Shift, after visiting with one of my local pro shop's the operator was suggesting a Cell as a better fit that would give me more control.  

I am a tweener with throwing at 15.5-16 mph with ave revs.

Any input on what I could expect out the Cell and its versatility would be appreciated.

Aside from being "hook in a box," it's also amazingly smooth, some of the best continuation I've ever seen from any bowling ball ever made, and with the right drill and surface prep it's very versatile.  Hank Boomershine and the Roto R&D guys spent two years developing this ball, and it shows.  The core and cover are just amazing.  Compared to the T-Road Solid and Attitude Shift, it'll be earlier and smoother, but more continuous.

Just look around this forum and you'll see the amount of praise the Cell gets -- it's just that good of a ball.  And if you understand some of the technical aspects of bowling balls, the seminar Hank Boomershine did about the Cell is really cool, if long.  There are 9 parts total, you can click through them all if you are interested:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMtLhywZVjA

Not meaning to be nasty or anything but the Cell has been just about the ONLY topic of conversation in this forum since it came out in January. Set your preferences to the maximum of 120 days and look at all the subjects.

Yes, it's not only a great ball, it's ... well there's nothing left to say. Any aspect of great as it applies to bowling balls is applied to the Cell in spades.

Don't hesitate to give the Cell a try, Dan is right on with what he said. I would say the Cell is probably one of the best and most versatile balls I've ever thrown. I've used the ball with box surface and high gloss polish and its been great with both. I'm actually going to pick up a couple more Cell's to put different drill patterns and finishes on. This is something I've never done with any other ball but the Cell is just that good.

Thanks for the reply Dan, I watched a couple of the videos this am and will watch the rest at a later time.  

Sorry Charlest I have not used or seen anyone throwing Rotogrip in the houses I bowl, otherwise I would have spent more time in the Rotogrip forum.  I will go back and read some of the Cell topics from the past.

I've thrown all three.  I would agree with the versatility comments here and throughout the Roto threads.  But the one word that describes the difference between the Cell and let's say the Attitude Shift is continuation.  Storm has clearly gotten the message with the Cell - they are now offering a 'comparable' (note to Roto People - I said comparable so don't bite my head off) ball with the new Dimension.  Again, continuous seems to be the word.

If you are looking for a med heavy to heavy oil ball get a Cell or a Dimension.  Cell has a great track record and the Dimension seems to be the Cell's slightly longer, slightly snappier cousin.  Pick your ball motion and pick up one of these.

If you want to see what a tweener can do with a Cell take a look at the PBA Summer series events.  Danny Wiseman is a perfect example of what the Cell's continuation can do for your carry.

So greenefam the Cell would be the smoother more rolly reaction ball vs the new Dimension?

Yes, but not a ton more rolly.  The difference that I see is that the Cell makes it's move a bit earlier - but they cover comparable boards on the lanes.  

I don't own either but I have thrown the Cell at a Storm / Roto seminar and I can't see how you would go wrong with either ball.  I have a T-Road Solid (a very condition-specific ball for me) and an Attitude Shift which is more of a medium oil volume ball for me.

I have a Special Agent that fits the heavier shot right now but I do plan on replacing with either a Cell or Dimension soon... Or maybe I'll get both.

After the info I picked up watching the videos and reading old posts as well as the replies I received today, I am definitely planning on purchasing a Cell.
