Im just wondering how all of you roguer's have your surfaces at. Im not having a lot of luck with the oob 4000, i dont think i have ever had luck with 4000 on anything when i think about it.

I was going to experiment with it at (step2) 1500 polished. I have read that the 1500 polished is close to 4000 abralon but not in my experience at least.

We might be able to help a little better if we know what kind of "problems" you are having at 4000?

Regardless of hook rating, a 4000 ball is not going to handle fresh PBA patterns. Maybe when they've opened up a bit, but not fresh. I'm using my Rogue @ 4000 for just that time. I've roughed up a Virtual Gravity to 2000, and also have a Cell @ 1000 for the heavier stuff. Of coarse your mileage may vary.

I am going to have to disagree with you here. I have seen a lot of VGs at 4000 and a few Rogues going at the PBA shots with a lot of success. Most like you are having some problems with it because you are expecting it to move like a 2000 grit when its more like a polished ball.

I am at box (4000) and like the way this thing chews up the wet/dry on league patterns.

I spoke to friend with a lot higher rev rate and he said he took his down to 1000 and then polished it litely. He also put a weight hole inside his axis point deep enough to hit the core and the ball picks up strongly off the spot.

Like it has been posted before, 4000 is as close to polish as you can get with out the gloss. If you are looking for earlier, then hit it with more surface. If you are looking for late, then shine it.
