First try with Critical
« on: October 02, 2011, 04:13:12 PM »
I decided on the Critical over a Nano for the length and for more backed. I got to try it on a fresh shot and wad surprised at what little reaction I got. I drilled it pin up 4 1/2 x 5 and the ball just sort of loped down the lane and had a small arc to the pocket. The carry was alright but every other ball I threw had more backed. In comparison with my Cell Pearl the pearl hooked about 5 more boards on the backed. I will give it another shot with the job condition and then try playing with the surface. Another thing I noticed with this ball is that I really had to try coming around the ball to get it to move for me. Where as I can throw my Cell Pearl up the back of the ball and it still reacts well. Anyone else had similar reactions.

the covers too strong for what your trying to throw it on probably.. that ball is going to need a good amount if not a lot of oil up front to see its true roll..

I have to agree with the inference that there was not enough oil for the Critical. I have both the Cell Pearl and the Theory, and when the Cell Pearl seems to be going too long, or weak at the pocket, then I attempt the Theory and usually have a good shot.

Conversely, when the Theory seems to be loping and not turning hard, it is usually not enough oil (or way too short of a pattern) and I then go to my Cell Pearl or something else weaker.

That's sort of what I figured. Not enough oil. I'll either leave it as is and see  if I ever get to use it or try throwing a little polish on it,
