Wes Mallott's CELL PEARL
« on: November 02, 2008, 09:39:14 AM »

What did all of you think of his ball reaction?

Did anybody else think that he needed a little more polish of his CELL PEARL to get it to retain energy better and flip over harder... or do you think he should have used something a little weaker overall that went longer and stored more energy?

Just curious?

If you noticed the last shot finished great and he even said he threw that one good so I think he was just missing right

is it me or since the summer special, it seems like all his reactions are hook-set now. it just seems that way.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

I agree with what Tburky said above! His statement is what I thought too!

It looked to me like his ball wasn't really polished that much and was actually scuffed a little bit. And I thought that maybe why his ball apeared to be not finishing (or rolling out)?

I thought it was going too long and fading out, as it seemed to still have plenty of hit to it.

NJStroker I've seen the same thing.  There's been quite a few times Wes has been on TV and had that reaction.  I did not like the look he had with either of the balls he used on TV.

I agree with Danes.  Bad day. Wes missed right on several shots. It is hard to criticize the ball when he is missing his breakpoint.

I thought that both he and WRW should have moved inside. Even when WRW hit his mark on the outside, the ball was overreacting.

quote:
I think what he was using was fine....but I noticed several times that he missed outside and the ball wouldn't recover for whatever reason.

Personally I think he had an off day.  I expect to see him in a lot finals this year and win 3 titles.  The man has incredible game.  To have an approach, armswing and release so smooth for a guy his size is unusual.

I think if he had gone with the Cell in box condition it would have suited him better.  Slighty earlier reaction without trying to rely on the outer egdes being bare.

I feel that wes used a 315 angle layout on his cell so the ball will set up into the pocket. I don't feel that he wanted a agressive drilling as you see he can hook any ball on ice conditions. As you seen with this layout if you get the ball past the break point the ball will not recover which happen to him that day.

That didn't look like a 315* to me?
