thinking about Roto
« on: March 31, 2008, 12:00:53 AM »
using some RotoGrip I need some stuff that is cooler and Calmer onleague conditions the only balls I can really use in most THS conditions is my HPP Hercules and Awesome Flip everything hooks to much or hits to hard

Was wondering if the planet line or the mystic and essentially their midline would be good choices.

Planet line is great, but I feel is much stronger than the numbers indicate.  I have two Saturns and the Venus.  My Venus has a basic label layout on it, and it is much stronger than I anticipated.  One of the best balls I have thrown.  I currently have it at 4000 Abralon and polish, but I may take it down to 2000 Abralon to tame the backend.

My Saturn is drilled 5" pin-PAP x 30 degrees, no weight hole, 2000 Abralon.  Works great on a fresh THS.

I also have 2 Mystics, one pin down, 4-1/2" x 45 degrees, weight hole 1" below PAP on VAL (OOB) and one pin up, 5-1/8" from PAP, no weight hole, OOB.  Mystic is strong but controllable.  I like my pin down on a 2nd shift league that follows a mixed league where lots of plastic is thrown.  Ball clears the heads easily and goes through the carrydown.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Planet series or the Mystic.  All of the Roto-Grip gear I have used takes surface adjustments very well.  Hope this helps.

The planet line is a great line of balls.  Right now I currently have the Neptune and I am in love with that ball for dried out conditions.  Smooth and even, will never overhook.

Might want to consider a Horizon Pearl.  For me that ball is great on the house shot.  Angular on the backend, but still very even.  The roll through the pin deck great and so far I have carried exceptionally well with it.
