300 and 299 in one night :)
« on: April 16, 2008, 09:40:22 PM »
Unfortunately, for the second time, I shot a REAL 300 during my 9-pin no tap league >.< lol but still, all 12 counts in my book! Haha.  I had a messenger take out the 10pin on the 12th, which was extra nice!

That was the first league of the night, the next was my men’s doubles league.. first game, front 11 all flush, the 12 I was a little slow on the approach and I felt the ball was soft off my hand and I thought it was going to hit a little flat, which it did, leaving a 10-pin again but this time no messenger…

All I took to the bowl this night was my two Roto Mystics, one for spares, and my polyester for 10pins…

Lol, no 9s in there, hence the "REAL" part

this is the second time i've thrown a real 300 in 9pin tap (have two 900s where i had a few taps though lol)... i guess your mindset in 9pin is just get to the pocket and some days all those pocket shots will carry!

Yeah i was playin on 9pin last night and and carried everything...I was like, now if i was on regular 10pin play i wouldn't have done all that..lol I would have been leaving solid and ringing 10s every frame..lol I think I shot 11 out of 12 strikes with an open in the 3rd frame..ugh..lol

Nice bowling Ryan!  Is Bowltech bringing in any Strike Cells that you know of?  I know they purchased a ton of Cells!

Good bowling, I know how you feel, I shot a 900 in a no tap tournament this year.  A natural 299, Natural 300, only had three 9 counts for a total of 33 natural strikes.  best bowling Of my life and it doesn't count, missed cashing by 3 pins as the rest of team was struggling.  Only consolation is, it was only done once before, shoot 900 in no tap that is, in the area.

there are no tap leagues?  as in every week?  is that fun?

A half ten is not a great shot.  No, you shouldn't have carried it.

I know awhile back when I was a league secretary, you could sanction a 9 pin to tap league with the then ABC. This way if a bowler bowled a NON no-tap 300 they would be rewarded and not left banging their head on the wall. You would need to contact the USBC to see if they still offer this sanctioning. Again if my memory serves me correctly, the scoring had to dictate if it was a real strike or a tap strike. Definitely be worth having you or the secretary of the league to contact the USBC.

P.S. Congrats on the great bowling!

Roger, not that I've heard, but now you've peaked my interest!  I will have to contact them to see!!  The first tiny batch of cells they brought in went in about a week (they were polished ones, though) and they re ordered a much bigger batch, about 5 times more than any Roto before, and they have vertually all gone!  Nothing but great reviews from this side of the pond

StormTech, I'm from the Uk so USBC wouldnt do much... But i'm not that fussed whether its sanctioned or not.. I know I threw it

jbruno6, yes its a weekly 9pin no tap league, and this is about the 4th/5th time its been run.. attracts lots of newer bowlers and fun bowlers.  It's quite good fun, though its annoying to throw great shots, real strikes, and loose to people wacking it up the middle  I bowl with my younger sister which is fun, and I'm averaging in the 260's this season... had two 900s in total and an 897 hehe
