low top weight layout

im recieving a cell that was an x out cuz of the top weight being around 1.7 or 1.8, what is a good layout i could use so that the ball doesnt burn up in my backswing. ive got decent speed 17+ and decent revs, and i track medium to low looking to use this for nationals. thanks guys

I think low top weight matters about as much as the CG stuff, I have this ball I would go pin over finger line and the backend will pickup. It is pretty much a mid-lane and backending  type of ball, pin under will smooth it out somewhat.

With your speed and polish this ball will not hook in backswing!


Top weight can be raised in drilling to make this a big backending league ball after you get back by drilling a weighthole past 6 3/4 inch from the grip center this will actually raise the ending top weight(lane 1 strategy) and increase the instablity in the ball to flare more(brunswick).

BUT for now....most at nationals like smoothness and control.  With that setup low top weight setup .....I guess you got it!!!!

right now its pin under the fingers on the midline i believe and the cg is kicked a little and the mb is swung pretty far out so im thinking it should start pretty quickly

should...nice if you have a heavy oil in the fronts and mids then with this low top weight a nice strong backend shot.

If that is what you have heard Nationals is sometimes you are set.

Where is weighthole...this can tweak reaction a good amount.

I strongly suspect that a 1.7 - 1.8 top weight is not a usual reason to mark a ball as an X-out. Many people will barely remove 2 ounces drilling the 3 finger holes. That will leave 0 =/- .3 ounces top/bottom, almost insignificant with today's dynamic cores, no less mass bias/asymmetric core.s

So I believe there could be another reason for this ball being labelled an "X-out". Was the ball marked that way or the box? Did the seller tell you why it was marked that way?

Your rev rate, the ball's surface, the oil amount/pattern, and the pin position are the chief determinants of the ball's starting up early or not, NOT the MB nor the top weight. MB position and top weight are way down the list.
