Cell Pearl - new info
« on: August 26, 2008, 10:18:39 AM »
This is NOT an international release...

CELL Pearl

The time of reckoning has arrived and the Roto Grip Kingdom welcomes the addition of the newest legend of the land. Bred from the original and designed to compliment its predecessor, the Cell Pearl will reign supreme.

The technologically advanced and performance proven Nucleus core delivers continuous predictable motion for all types of bowlers.  The Cytoplasmic X pearl reactive coverstock is a first in the industry with the optimum amount of porosity and enhanced surface friction.

The synergy of core and coverstock on the Cell Pearl generates a strong angular move off the spot on those medium to lighter volume patterns with unprecedented predictability.  This ball is the ultimate compliment to the original and will surely dominate the entire bowling kingdom…

Having been given the go-ahead from Roger, I’d like to share with you my thoughts on this ball. Since BR doesn’t have this posted yet on the review section, I’ll use this forum to let the Kingdom fans know what’s coming.

I’ve been fortunate enough to test this ball most of the summer and have seen it on THS, Kegel Navigation and PBA-X patterns. Mine was drilled 5-1/4” X 45* with hole on axis left in box finish shiny. This ball rolls as smooth as the original and gets to the spot cleaner, and gives the “look” of kicking harder down lane - all of which you’d expect for a pearl version. The performance on the lane reminds me of how dominant the X-Factor was when it was released in 2002. That ball was easy to skid, always returned from the spot and never freaked out if you pulled it into the oil. The pearl CELL is very reminiscent of that ball release when you compare it to this era of bowling equipment and lane conditions we currently bowl on.

Dare I say…this CELL could be better than the previous CELL!! I know with as much success as I’ve had with the original that is a BIG statement, but I think it will be true. I can’t wait to get my “official” versions in October – this is going to be an absolute winner!

If you have more specific question PM me and I’ll be glad to answer them.

Great review Steve.  Thanks.  One question, if you've thrown an Epic Saga before how does this compare?  The Saga for me is THE house shot pearl (I know it's a hybrid but it rolls like a pearl to me) and I was wondering if you considered the Cell Pearl a good replacement?  Can you take a stab at a quick comparison?

So what's the difference between the Cell pearl and the Strike Cell?

Strike Cell is a hybrid, solid/pearl blend. (2 part solid, 1 part pearl)

Why does the diff. change so drastically from 15lbs?

A_P_K:
Keep in mind my comments are pearl relative to solid.  The GI has very similar RG #'s but has almost 30% less diff.  With less diff and all other variables being similar, the GI is going to look more angular down lane.  I have a GI drilled in the same 5-1/4" X 45*, but pin up, vs. pin down and there is a big difference in the change of direction and the spot it does it from.

Greenefam:
I acutally had a Saga 6" x 45* that rolled sweet for me in league, but it was 16# and I converted last year.  When I get my "offical" balls from Roger I was intending on duplicating that layout in the CELL pearl.  As far as I'm concerned, I believe we're thinking along the same lines.

One other comment.  When I was working with Hank at some trade shows he indicated to me he wanted me to add in a CELL with the MB 2" past the VAL.  He said it rolls sweet and you'd be surprised how well it carries.  Just a thought since normally you'd think to use that when you need something to lay downlane.  Maybe with this core structure it does that but still hits well.

The Japanese distributor HI-SP will release new Storm/Roto-Grip balls earlier  than the world wide release.

Electicleft and Northface, That ball is actually the Cell Hybrid that was an overseas release.  It is a completely different ball.  Thanks
